It’s an Easter Egg to Invincible’s original suit design and original name, which was supposed to be, “Bulletproof.”

He was actually almost going shot for shot with his Mark variant before he flew the others to safety and was taking punches that would have impaled other heroes. He’s no joke.

Something cool about Bulletproof from the comics, he actually stands in for Mark while Mark is depowered. That’s because both characters powers are very similar to each other with a few differences. That makes them able to swap places if when one goes down for a while. Other than the obvious skin tone and hair, they would be difficult to tell apart due to body proportions and powers.

Bulletproof had been active for years but he didnt have a suit until Green Ghost recomended him to Art at the start of the series

I actually didn't realize this at first, but this might actually be a pretty clever reference to how in the comics invincible and bulletproof share the exact same costume design

It's not, Bulletproof is a reference to what Mark was originally gonna be, called, same with the suit.
Mark was originally gonna be called Bulletproof and have that exact suit to wear.

we have seen next to no feats from him so we can only speculate (yes, i hear you guys who read the comics, but they’ve already strayed away from comic material in a major way with the black hole scene (if you don’t know, that whole scene isn’t in the comics))

It’s the same in the comics and I think why they chose to give him a brief run as Invincible. As an homage to how he adopted Invincible’s original name idea and costume idea
