Let's look at how to build a slicer panel in your Power BI Report! This can help to reduce visuals on the canvas and also make for an app like experience. There are some things to think about though.

Really looking forward to an update that makes creating, duplicating, and managing bookmarks simple. Currently it's a nightmare, especially once you have enough pages or have to deliver a consistent UI experience across many reports.

Love these tips and tricks. The reports I build today are light years better than my first ones built 18 months ago and that is all thanks to this channel. ❤

Thank you very much for not only the detailed instruction but truly quality recording! I am working on a project for my work and learning power bi from scratch!

Please please please, can Microsoft release this functionality as a feature by default. We use it everywhere but it's a huge pain to adjust across many reports.

It would be awesome if you guys could do a video about how to work with Power BI as an external consultant building reports for companies.
Licences, workspaces, apps, sharing - you'd lay out all the prerequisites and best practice set up, and the workflow from authoring everything to handing over to one user at the company who can then share it to their colleagues.
Great work guys thanks 😁

The instruction to ensure that slicer pane is selected at 8:04 was the one thing I have been searching for hours!! Finally my bookmark works! Thank you kind sir!

The old Slicer Panel video was the first time video I watched on your channel. It's great to see how far this channel has come!

for anyone else driven mad by PowerBI:
For the Buttons to work you have to HOLD ctrl AND click on the button...

Slicer pane is great if there aren't many pages to maintain.
When there's a lot of pages, it's going to be slicer pain. 😅

getting better. I like the trick with the whole page button to close... now its time for visibility bound to variable or even layer number.. no more bookmarks to turn things on/off. A modal container that sits above the whole PBI. then a single slicer panel becomes worthy of building for the whole dashboard.

How did you get the filter and question icons on the left hand side (where you put the slicer open button)?

I remember watching this year ago when you first published. I finally get to use this on a project!

Great video. Thank you. I can see instances where this approach would be very helpful, but if you're going to sync the slicers across all pages, I would tend to just have a slicer page with a button on each page to go to that slicer page.

They don't have to make slicer panel from zero each time. They can choose and copy-paste from selection panel to which page they want. But they need to work around bookmarks again unfortunately, it takes more time. Thanks for idea, why didn't I thought about background blank page which can work the same as close button. It is smart!

Great video, I implemented a bunch of slicer panel on reports, and got great feedback from user on it. The only drawback is that filter visuals allows to search by typing a value, but it does not allow Advenced Filtering… For example the user want to simply filter the field ”Description” of a Dimenton to filter only the lines that contains the value ”screw”. In that case filter pane is the only option I found. Will jump in the roof the say microsoft will add an advance filter option in the filter visual. ;)
