Footage shot from balcony about 200 m. from the action, without stabilization or tripod. I had a hard time holding the camera still, sorry about that.
Canon eos 550d/rebel t2i, with lowgrade sigma 70-250mm. tele lens.

What a good friend he has. Even he's smaller than his enemy, but he still trying his best to help.

It’s like when the bully’s picking on your sibling or friend

It really doesn’t matter how much bigger or stronger they are compared to you, YOU’RE GONNA FIGHT WITH EVERYTHING YOU’VE GOT

Respect my brother, we all lose friends, but you fought for him/her.

No doubt that the defending bird was a lifetime spouse of the victim. Heart breaking.

To everyone saying "this isn't a crow, " Jackdaws are part of the Corvus genus, so therefore they are in fact part of the crow family. Any bird in the Corvus genus is related to the crow and raven.

I give the photographer props for capturing as much as he did- Without a tripod or image stabilization, recording handheld at that focal length would be very challenging! Lol! What was disappointing was the man in the end interfering! How sad... That seagull lost a meal; how do people think seagulls feed themselves if they reside in any area other than busy boardwalks or fishing piers?! This is how they feed themselves AND their young in a more natural habitat. Humans think they need interject themselves into wildlife's business to "save the day, " but that mentality does far more harm than people realize. SMH... Sorry for the rant- I'm an ornithologist and wildlife rehabilitator, and I wish more people had access to information regarding their impact to the natural order.

Seagull put in all that effort, just so the old man could get a free meal lol

that's what true friends do, even at the face of death the other black bird didn't give up on his friend, i wish all humans can do the-same, we should all learn from this

That seagull is like I have claimed this bird by the laws of nature as my food. 😂

The worst part was the man taking away the dead body, depriving the seagull of its kill and so it will kill again. poor crow, fought til the end. Could have been its chick or partner. Depressing footage all round, no winners
