6.4 California Earthquake Damage; Tens of thousands without power

Tens of thousands of homes and businesses along the Northern California coast remained without power Tuesday evening, nearly a day after a powerful earthquake jolted people awake and shook homes off foundations, injuring at least 12 and leaving many without water.

The magnitude 6.4 earthquake occurred at 2:34 a.m. near Ferndale, a small community about 210 miles (345 kilometers) northwest of San Francisco and close to the Pacific coast. The epicenter was just offshore at a depth of about 10 miles (16 kilometers). Numerous aftershocks followed.

Pacific Gas & Electric had restored power to about 40,000 customers — more than half of the original 72,000 that had been affected — by late Tuesday. The utility said it expected electricity to be fully restored within 24 hours.

Residents in the area known for its redwood forests, scenic mountains and the three county Emerald Triangle's legendary marijuana crop are accustomed to earthquakes. But many said this was more violent and unnerving than the usual rolling motion they experience.

They should not be concerned about earthquakes they need to think about the gays and pronouns.

It’s really sad we see more news on Trumps taxes than we do disasters like this

When, and epicenter with aftershock record? Start at the top. I saw a 6.3m yesturday morning at 2:34 AM that on a general map looked at a glance to be just off the coast in the general vicinity. Find an earthquake specialist, name the fault lines and give a full report or tell the public where to go to find the basic lay of the land! Please, at least tell where the general public can get the crust cracking analysis! Are there any ocean plates of concern being looked at? Amazing the lack of analysis!

A site named Dutchsinse is in the business of "predicting" earthquakes. He gave a warning for an earth quake of similar amplitude in this area. He has been disconnected from all of his servers and even cell phone service. THis make him more believable to me.

At only 6.4, I had no idea that anywhere in the US could be so vulnerable to earthquake damage. Maybe just dumb bad luck.
I have lived in California most of my 75 years, and have experienced much stronger quakes, with fewer problems. One thing I will say: during a strong quake, stay away from brick walls and chimneys.
