Julia Hartley Brewer speaks to travel correspondent for the Independent Simon Calder, about new travel rules being imposed within the European Union.

Thankfully, Simon makes it clear that a Euro-Visa isn't necessary for next summer.

He explains that on the 10th of November of this year, the Entry-Exit system will be implemented, meaning that anyone outside the EU travelling into the union will be fingerprinted and have facial biometrics taken on arrival.

Six months later, the Electronic Travel Information and Authorisation System or ETIAS will be implemented. This is the beginning of the so called 'Euro-Visa'. Crucially however, participation in ETIAS will be optional for the first 6 months.

It is an possible outcome however, that these new measures will increase waiting times.

If you don’t like this scheme you can always holiday in the land of the free. The USA where you will need to pay $21 for an ESTA.

Are they not going to mention the fact that this system was pushed by the UK, when the UK was still a member of the EU? No?

Farage and UK MEPs voted for this when we were still in Europe.

I think the guest had not finished telling us the basics, when the loud persoon on the left interrupted him (with questions which he would not doubt have come to in any case, but in a logical sequence).

just the EUSSR ans Stazi Starmer piling on more inconveniences so that people will say "oh well, let's go back into the EU to save me 7 Euros and an hour of my time for my once a year the trouble is that most of the sheeple will fall for it.

Thailand for example has a ETIAS system when arriving at BKK airport since end of covid…finger prints and photo. Whole process only takes max 30 secs at each immigration officer’s desk….no drama 😮

This happens almost everywhere in the world. Poor Brits complaining about nothing. That's what happens when you leave your closet trading and traveling partner😅

Are they gonna do it to the "migrants" too? Or does it violate their human rights. Actually, I feel like this IS a human rights violation. Forcibly fingerprinting tourists?

I don’t have a problem with the fee. What I have a problem with is them having my fingerprints on their database and having to give private information about my medical details which is usually only privy to medical professionals. It is s total invasion of privacy. Also if their database gets hacked someone else has my finger prints etc!

1:47 He skirted the details. IMMIGRATION officials? Only one in ten "travelers" arriving in the EU? Americans never even needed a visa to visit Europe. Just who is he referring to for fingerprinting? Tourists and families, businessmen, migrants?
