Hospices will be forced to turn dying patients away because they are struggling with steeply rising costs at a time when the NHS is not increasing funding.

To find out what is happening in the sector, The Sunday Times spent a day with staff from the Hospice of St Francis, in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, and met patients receiving their care.

In the States, if someone is NOT a hospice patient, but elderly, Medicare will not cover Respite care, which means the caregiver (family member) provides care.
No breaks.

They need to be funded they do a fantastic job for dying relatives my grandfather died in one they did such a fantastic job

Such an important role, but 'other services' need to be addressed. Access to hospice care is impossible without a clear diagnosis.
