I've got the exact same RO unit accept its the 100 gpd and have zero issues with it leaking. Been up and running for over a year now with no problems. But then again, I read the directions.

The issue WITH ANY filter is that filters need to stay saturated.
My whole farm and adjacent lands runs on rain collected. Until I raised the outlet on my filter barrels(previously was next to the lowest point), the water was so-so.
Also, by keeping membrane in constant fluid, it will last longer than wet/dry frequencies.
Leave the water on a trickle all night and get a glass carboy(5gal) and I guarantee that water will have way less ppm

RO systems are more cheaper now than before. I decided to build one bc I have an existing water filters but didn't do a great job. All i have to do is to buy RO membranes, tubes, and pump and ready to go 😊

Hey bud, I just came across your channel and I like your content. So I subscribe and I used your link to order this exact RO system. I know you don’t get much but at least I could do is help a fellow YouTuber out.
I got some L134 Leopard Frog plecos coming and I need softer water to house them.
Great content bro!….

I also purchased a cheap model from Amazon. It’s a 6 stage, plus I got an extra DI canister. I made sure to get a model with screw on caps, so I could replace the media with media of my choosing. It’s a MaxWater unit.

There are really cheap models that you can’t take apart and change the media, so you have to buy that company’s whole replacement cartridges… which are almost as much as a whole new unit from them. One of those cheaper now, but more expensive later type deals.

The reason I got this unit, is if you do some research into the RO membrane… almost everyone uses the same thing, with different labels. Just like the unit itself… basically identical to the one a very popular reef supply store features on their YouTube channel, without their label on it.

The reason I got the extra DI canister, is because when the two mixed bed DI resins are exhausted… I can use one for anion resin and one for cation resin, both color changing. The two resins don’t exhaust at the same rate, so if you use mixed bed… you’re probably changing one too early and wasting it. I have slightly elevated silicates in my tap water (which don’t show up on a TDS meter), so the extra resin helps me out there!

The really important things are make sure your water pressure is between the units min/max pressures. If it’s too low, you’ll need a booster pump. This is true of any unit.
Also, they’re not miracle workers… if your water is very nasty, don’t expect 0 TDS. You may need additional canisters/filters.

My water is about 150 TDS out of the faucet, and 0 TDS out of the unit. My waste to clean ratio isn’t bad. A little worse than 50/50.

I use the 4 stage twist in Aquatilife system, slightly more expensive at $95 and fill a 10 gallon RV water tank to have spotfree water on hand for washing cars, windows, steamers, irons, cleaning windows for way less money than a DI system.

You cut those white 1/4" water lines properly. Cutting them correctly is essential for keeping the o-ring intact. It's possible that others have cut that line with scissors or something, causing deformation and burrs that damage the o-rings which will then cause leaks. I love these fittings and never had a problem with them.

Thank you very much for adding in the warning about the extra chloramine filter that was needed. I’m waiting on this to be delivered and wasn’t aware of that requirement. I looked and unfortunately my area uses chloramine so now I have to buy the extra filter 🙄

EXTREMELY informative and helpful video!! I’ve a 75g freshwater tank, and super hard water, which is affecting my live plants and possibly creating scrape off algae. A few questions: My utility closet is about 20’ from my tank, and I hook a long syphon hose to clean the substrate and add fresh water. Could I hook up the hose (with adapters) directly to the clean output from filter, or do u have to use 5 gallon buckets? Also, I’m assuming I should upgrade to a 150gpd system (or higher), so it doesn’t take a day to fill during water changes? Lastly, does an RO system cause you to do less water changes compared to before you installed? Thanks in advance!

Got the flip 100 gallon unit. Love it. Only issue is my water is terrible and loads the sediment filter if I got before filtration, or I'm pushing sofener water if after. Working to cut my plumbing apart to get it right.

I think people also may have turned the water pressure up not knowing without a pressure gauge. I assume.

Curious as to what your water pressure is.
I think I'll need a booster.

I have not seen any of your other videos so I have a question .... why did you get this deionizer filter ... if you can not drink this water? ... you did mention something fish ...

Is this for an aquarium?

And 2 with out the deionized filter? Is this a cheap way to get good drinking water system on a budget. For an rv/tiny house...
