How to get .000TDS without an RO/DI unit

Here is a DIY project I did about 4 years ago. It's been my little best kept secret, but here it is for the world to see in all its glory. You maybe wondering how much water I can filter with one filter. The answer is 70g+ before the TDS(Total Dissolved Solids) starts to rise. Which will give me 280g+ out of the 4 pack of filters that I buy at 20% off at Bed Bath & Beyond. This is a great idea if you have an apartment or want a small tank for college campus. Without have to carry water around.
On a side note. At first I did not have the SlimJim bin to roll around on the casters. I actually took a sturdy table that was high enough to slip a 5g bucket underneath. I drilled a hole into the top of the table to have the filtering bucket sit on top of next to my sink with the empty 5g bucket underneath receiving the now filtering water.
This is a great idea, because I can fill up the bucket in 5 minutes. Walk out the house or do some chores around the house. Come back and not have to worry about water overflowing into my place of stay.
Hope you enjoyed my video. Keep the hate mail to a bare minimum. Ask me a question about it and how to get one of these made for yourself. I am no genius, but I do have .000TDS! Thanks for watching as always! Take care☺️

This is the most highly underrated youtube channel ever!!!! Keep up the great work, I essentially mimicked your setup for keeping a mandarin.

Hey 40B, a couple things.
1. When you look up Reef Nutrition Tigger Pods, do you know that your videos pretty much populate that search. That is big!!!!

2. I've watched almost all of your videos especially on Tigger Pods, and I think you have the most content worth following. I think you can greatly leverage your experience in Tigger Pods, and literally target would-be mandarin owners with like a Restart-With-Me a beginner Tigger Pods culturing. All you need is that fancy Youtube font on the freeze frame saying "How-To".

3. The filtering tube hacks around it also would be great interest, just as this water bucket filtering method. Because I think the biggest problem with tiggerpods is the non-definite ways you have to do water change. I say you corner the search, Tigger Pods Hacks.

Anyways, a big fan of all the work you've put in. And I hope you get more followers, because no one is shining a light at this stuff.

(One last thing, I also got a Slim Jim, and I was considering using it for water mixing. Some have mentioned the plastic on this thing leaches, so it might not be good for water storing, but I wonder what your thoughts on that is. And does it buckle at the sides when it's filled too much with water?)

I guess there's DI resin in that filter. Do you know what it is?
If it's DI resin, yes, you can do the same only with the DI stage of a RO/DI system. Lots of people do that. But if you have 300 tds from your tap or if you mix like 50 or more gallons of water every month, it will cost more than the RO/DI system bc that cartridge won't last long.

Do you still use this method? Also would you recommend doing this method and keep coral and Anemone?
