A 16 year old calls an ambulance when an infant for whom she cares is turning blue. Yes, that's what she was supposed to do if nobody told her otherwise!! Poor girl, she must have been frightened to death herself.
Op is NTA. The wife is somewhat understandably annoyed but quite overreacting. It was her mother's fault, and she misplaced her anger on a well-meaning girl.

Basically, the 7 month old baby would hold his breath until he passed out, and if you blew on his face he would start breathing again. The 16 year old babysitter was not informed of this and called an ambulance when the baby had turned blue and passed out. Wife is mad that babysitter called an ambulance and wasted so much money, OP thinks she was right to call.

Why wasn’t Daisy told about the baby? Oh my, grandma forgot, well, mommy dearest certainly could have written pertinent information about the baby for Daisy to read.

NTA she was just trying to help and when a baby passes out and starts going blue you would think that he was dying so calling an ambulance maybe expensive but if your child had problems and she didn't do that then he might of died

NTA the mom is just straight up dumb the babysitting didnt know n a baby randomly passing out is not normal for a normal adult so she did the responsable think n called an ambulance im a med student n better be sure than sorry honestly even the parent shoudl take these episode more seriously in my time at the hospital ive see ppl comming in w death baby hoping for us to help n when u ask them why not come earlier or when they first passed out theyll tell us they thought it was normal

I have the suspicion than the wife is going to try to gaslight the kids against OP in an attempt to get full custody... I hope he plays his cards right to ensure the safety of his chilldren

To sum it up she call 911 for the youngest child since he holds his breath. He will turn blue or sleep but gets up in seconds she called 911 for hospital. Since it was her time. wasn't told that. They got into a fight and the wife is at her mothers house. She considering his priorities.

NTA, the wife deserves that after being so cruel to someone who was only thinking about the baby's best interests. How was Daisy supposed to know that the boy was okay? I would honestly be more upset if, even not knowing about his condition, she hadn't tried to do anything about it. She did the right thing by calling the doctors for something that could have been worse than it really was.

I (41f) would have called an ambulance as well. I have never seen a baby hold their breath until they pass out.

1000% NTA she is 16 you think she knows about this kinda crap? There are people in their 40's that never experience this kinda thing with kids. Like it is legit nuts to yell at her and traumatize all of your kids over a bill. Yea it's gonna be expensive bill but she saw a baby with their skin turned blue and not breathing and she panicked

So the wife's like "I'd rather have my baby death than paying the cost of an ambulance". That says it all. NTA, your priority is the kids' safety, hers seems to be the money. If she asks for a divorce and full custody you have way more advantage over her. The MIL forgot to tell the babysitter but of course the poor girl had to take the blame. The wife's an AH. There are episodes that go too far and the baby ends up needing medical care, what if this was one of those cases? The wife needs to get her priorities straight.
