In the 2nd part, do try playing this YT video while the Pi is in the case. You'll find that the speed is throttled due to overheating. I ran into this issue in my review of the Desktop Kit. CanaKit Starter Kit turned out to be the ideal option as it included the heat-sinks and active cooling. Hope this comment is helpful.

It's not about the price, its the support to the Pi Foundation that makes this kit worth the price

Don't forget to add the price of a USB hub to a DIY kit too, the keyboard hub is super convenient.

I have been drooling over the Rpi 4 since it's announcement. Just been waiting for the software to catch up and stabilize for it and for me to have some extra cash. Thanks for letting me get some Rpi 4 fun vicariously through you. The kit looks great.

It looks pretty nice, but I wish someone would make a keyboard with a built-in case for a Pi. No external wires/batteries for the keyboard and a cool 80s design.

Too bad there is no fan or heat think, and too bad the official case have no holes... that would have been the ultimate kit.
I see the fact that it is just slightly more expensive as a way to make a small donation to an awesome foundation which have change the way a lot of people in the world are computing! ( poor country, kids learning computing, people improving their skills....)

I’m really looking forward to the next part of the series! For me, wanting to know whether the pie can act as a desktop replacement would involve Seeing what the rate of basic applications are available in each of the operating system versions and how those basic applications perform. I’m talking email clients, office, browsers and all of the functions that one would perform with the browser normally, music players et cetera and perhaps some customisation options for the operating systems. One problem I find is that often in reviews we don’t get a full idea of what the operating system is like to use so if you can convey that that would be amazing!

They should release an official tablet monitor that holds the pi and has all the connectors somewhere in the back.

I pre ordered this kit all the way back last summer when the Pi 4 released. Been using it as a daily driver pc since then. Great replacement for my old one. Fantastic purchase. Interestingly, it was $10 cheaper on Canakit back then.

I still can't believe they don't at least include a heat-sink (let alone, a fan) for the stovetop Pi 4.
Denial is not just a river in Egypt - its the engineers at Raspberry Foundation.

I've found the kits are almost always a good deal. I LOVE the extra usb ports in that keyboard.

The only thing I wish they'd do is release a version with the plain black/grey case, board, mouse, and cables. I like the red/white set, but sometimes you want something a bit more subdued. Heck, could one of the retailers just bundle it up themselves, if the Foundation won't? They're out there, just not in one box.

Expensive, but you priced it out also. That keyboard with extra USB buttons is an awesome sight! Thanks for the video.

I think I might actually get this as I’ve been looking to get a sbc for a while to start off on

The mouse cord is short as the idea to have it plugged into the keyboard
I thought you already had this kit

All I really consider still to pick up is that Raspberry keyboard and mouse.
I know it's not much but I just love the fact that the keyboard comes with an internal USB hub and that both devices have official Raspberry Pi colors.

It's a fantastic kit. I currently run it as one of main PC's now and I really havent had any issues at all. It's also a great way to get into electronics with the book that is supplied. Granted I'm not doing anything intensive with the Pi, but I do have Netflix running very well on mine and for all other task, ie coding, word processing and even running Gimp has been no issue at all for it.
