This was from an English talk show in 2002. I recall Tom Hanks on the show loving David's performance. I've forgotten how many times we performed this song. Each one was magical and I wish we could have done so many more. David's impact is really only just beginning to be understood due to the fact that he was so ahead of his time. I hope you enjoy this. I certainly did when we performed it.

I came here looking for this particular performance of David Bowie singing, but I got distracted by how freaking amazing that piano playing is. Holy freaking hell, you are amazing.

MIke Garson was the corner stone to all of Bowies greats and he was smart enough to know that and kept him with him his entire career nearly.

You see tons of other artists covering this....on albums....on American Idol and X Factor. Despite the extreme technical reinterpretations...there is nothing that even comes close to Bowie here. Gives you goosebumps doesn't it? What a display of vocal mastery and artistry. There is no shortage of emotional content here. We see that he was the real deal. Just a piano and His music. He's almost as cool as Elvis.

He was such a beautiful man. I'm very sad for his death. But now he went where he belongs, to the stars. Rest in peace Bowie.

I met David Bowie at his concert when he was Ziggy. His pianist is my private piano teacher Mike Garson. Mike taught me Watermelon Man, Along the Watchtower and Bumble Boogie. I was with my celebrity publicist friend, David Granoff. David said ask David Bowie if he'd like to come to Max's Kansas City with us. But David replied he was with his wife. David said to invite her.

to think he had been singing this song for 30 odd years. yet the total focus and passion in this recording is 110% ...RIP starman .so sadly missed. my heart goes out to Iman and his family. Mike and Gail his work family .you all must feel so bereft and lost without his beautiful presence..

Thanks MR. Garson. I got to see you perform this piece in Chicago 2004 tour and it was the highlight of a fantastic concert. I can still picture the roaring applause for you after the piece. Wonderful memory for me and my wife. Thanks for sharing some of your memories here where the public can join in. I loved the video you made where you played live along with background video too.
