Today I am going to show you how to easily dump your PS2 bios for use in emulation on PCSX2. To do this tutorial you are going to need a way to run homebrew on PS2 either through mods or swapdisk. the whole process is easy to do and shouldn't take you longer than 30 minutes to complete! remember everyone emulation is a fantastic tool but please go about it legally!

It was looking like it was actually going to be doable until you said "of course, your PS2 has to be modded."

Oh yeah. Of course...It's going to take more video tutorials to figure out how to do that. And theres probably stuff like figuring out how to get mcboot on a memory card that will complicate it.

Quick tip in case it wasn't clear or mentioned previously:
At 2:50 you can see the dump of the final file (of 5 files) complete.
There is no "confirmation" after this. The screen will just sit there forever, so once you see the message: "Dumping NVM completed OK" you can shut down your PS2 and the files on your USB device should be fine.
Just wanted to clarify because I sat there for about 10 minutes wondering if something went wrong. ^_^

Just wanna let everyone know that if you're running component cables directly to a more modern TV like I am, when dumping the BIOS, the screen may not display correctly or at all. Don't panic, as it's still doing its thing; just give it about five minutes to be on the safe side, and then press the reset button to return to Free McBoot. It should have performed the operation successfully.

If anyone is having trouble with the elf file not showing up in ulaunchelf, I had the same issue. I fixed it by formatting my usb drive to FAT32 instead of exFAT. Hope this helps. Thank you for the tutorial, Archades. I can now play God Hand in a better way.

You were right about card readers. I tried this with a USB stick and all I got was a black screen when launching the elf file. Used a card reader instead and it worked.

Two questions:
a) When formatting a USB for use in a PS2, which file format and allocation size is best? I assume NTFS is incorrect (as this is the MS Windows format).
b) You mention you needed to mod your PS2 before you could run a .elf from your USB. Would you be willing to put a link in your description to a source you recommend for this?
