How to EASILY film in Sony's S-Cinetone Picture Profile

S Cinetone actually doesn’t clip until 109 (it’s in the Sony help guide). Setting your zebras to 100 is just going to waste dynamic range as you can recover your whites in post if you set zebras to 109. Alternatively, you can create a manual knee in the picture profile that brings your white point down to 100. I’m really shocked at the amount of YouTube teachers who don’t know this. I didn’t find a single person who understood this information that Sony gives us for free. Also, slog3 clips at 94, so setting zebras to 100+ will make you think you are never overexposed.

Helpful tip for exposure: by default “spot metering point” is set to “center”.

Changing it to “focus point link” like you showed, meters the exposure of what’s in focus.

Perhaps still not entirely accurate, but a lot better than it’s default option “center”.
