Deterministic hits and damage makes it a puzzle, not a game.

Which is fine. Some people like puzzles. They just aren’t usually for me.

I prefer XCOM which has more unknowns and wild swings in luck which changes the board state that you have to adapt to. Many people hate that but for me it’s what makes a game.

I absolutely love the Metal Slug series, but I normally can't stand "strategy" games, so I'll probably only buy this game when a good sale comes along. Don't get me wrong, as I'm happy to see the series venture in to other genres, and lets be honest, tactical strategy was probably the best choice.

Oh jeez. I didn't know it was gonna be a roguelike. I understand why it is, but man, I'm just so freaking done with roguelike design.
