The word "angel" is the Hebrew word mal'ak and the Greek word aggelos, whereby they both literally mean "messenger". At Genesis 32:1, 2, it says that "the angels (Hebrew mal'ak) of God met up with" Jacob at Mahanaim, while at 1 Samuel 23:27, it says that "a messenger (Hebrew mal'ak) came to (King) Saul, saying: "Come quickly, for the Philistines have made a raid on the land."

At Matthew 4:11, after Jesus testing encounter with Satan, the account says: "Then the Devil left him, and look ! angels (Greek aggelos) came and began to minister to him". At Matthew 11:10, concerning John the Baptist, Jesus said: "This is the one about whom it is written (at Isa 40:3): ‘Look ! I am sending my messenger (Greek aggelos) ahead of you, who will prepare your way ahead of you !’ "

The same can be said of other Hebrew and Greek words that have a double meaning, as for example the Hebrew word ruach that means the same as the Greek word pneuma, of "spirit" as well as "wind", as can be seen at Genesis 6:3, that states: "Then Jehovah (God's name, see Ex 6:3, KJV) said: “My spirit (Hebrew ruach) will not tolerate man indefinitely, because he is only flesh. Accordingly, his days will amount to 120 years.”

At Genesis 8:1, it states: "But God gave attention to Noah and to all the wild animals and domestic animals that were with him in the ark, and God caused a wind (Hebrew ruach) to blow over the earth, and the waters began to subside."

And at John 3:8, Jesus told Nicodemus: "The wind (Greek pneuma) blows where it wants to, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from and where it is going. So it is with everyone who has been born from the spirit (Greek pneuma)."

So both the Hebrew ruach and Greek pneuma have the same double meanings, of "spirit" and "wind", or an invisible force that produces visible results, as the wind does, able to move physical objects though not seeable. Angels are "spirits", or that which is invisible but able produce a visible outcome, as expressed at Psalms 104:1, 3, 4:

"Let me praise lays beams of his upper rooms in the waters above, making the clouds his chariot (denoting being invisible, see Job 26:9), moving on the wings of the wind (Hebrew ruach). He makes his angels (Hebrew mal'ak) spirits (Hebrew ruach), his ministers a consuming fire."

So, the loyal angels are Jehovah's messengers, that he sends to assist his loyal ones on the earth (Ps 34:7), who plead with him for a blessing (Gen 32:24-29; see also1 Kings 19:5-7), such as strengthening Jesus Christ just before he was abused and executed on a stake.(Luke 22:43)
