I’m so glad to hear you talking about this subject! As a dental hygienist, I see stress in the mouth, the wear patterns of my patient’s teeth. I talk about how we can hold our stress in our head, neck, shoulders, and back, and how it can become a physical problem. It can lead to, at the least, TMJ and pain. But it can also lead to other, even more detrimental health problems. It’s so important to release stress however you can. I really appreciate you telling your story.

The stress of my Mom's final weeks, her passing, settling her affairs, I could literally feel my cortisol levels over the top. I'm rounding on the first year of this, and it's just a constant. Exercise, meditation help, but, I think I need to see someone. It's still emotionally wrenching. Yes, one step at a time. Thank you.

Thanks for posting this. I have realized this past week that I am going to have to do something to combat the anxiety/stress I have been feeling on an almost daily basis, which is totally unlike me. I am going to amp up my meditation and exercise practices and hopefully this will help.

YES. I've had chronic hip pain and chronic stress for years. Recently discovered the link between the two. As I've significantly sought to reduce the stress lately, the pain has gone down a ton. Learning to be patient with myself, say no to things, and just do less has been very helpful for me as well

Great video and I totally agree, sleep is incredibly important along with a good diet and exercise program and all the usual suspects that get mentioned in videos like these.

I found sleep, diet and exercise to be the easier things to manage, what was slightly more difficult to change was a couple of other things.

It was my job that had me in a permanent state of Fight or Flight and that was compounding terrible lower back pain that eventually led to debilitating Sciatica. So, I got a new job and then a new car (an automatic as it was obvious that a manual was aggravating my Piriformis) and then found your Pilates and Stretching videos. Those changes were easier said than done but I'm now completely healthy, pain free and feel very lucky that I figured out my recipe to get better.

For 10 years I went to Doctors, Chiropractors, Osteopaths, Sports Injury specialists, had scans / MRI's done and took my fair share of pain relief medication along the way and none of them worked.

My point being, the cure for me was finding in my life what was causing the pain and I'm convinced that for many people the same is true for them.

Changing parts of my life fixed me, not medication.

The high levels of stress; chronic stress, that shows up in my body are migraines, nausea, throwing up, depleted, exhausted, very low energy, weak voice, slow movements, my nervous system feels like it’s been electrocuted when faced with the same threat for years, sleeping lots. I have insomnia from having an over-active mind, but chronic stress does the opposite to me. It causes me to sleep a lot. More dehydrated than usual.

Problem is I can’t find help. No therapist are available. I tried at least 6. Some didn’t even get back to me. Some didn’t take my insurance. It’s really frustrating. So, I honestly just gave up.

ooh be careful with the help though. If they are not well experienced in Chronic Stress/ Burnout then they can cause much worse symptoms.
