1. Sony shoots natural, and lets the editor adjust the color exposure and saturation etc in post production. Gropro has tweaked those settings already. that doesnt make gopro superior.

2. Sony has best stabilization, thats the most important thing for me. under very shaky conditions, Sony seems to win by an even wider margin in stabilization. both cameras do fine when just walking and holding them steady. Gopro may be a little better at correcting side to side rolling. most importantly, i can always stabilize with Warp stabilizer and get perfect footage from Sony. some gopro footage is so shaky that it cant be recovered at all in post production. digital stabilization just cant compete with optical +digital stabilization.

2.5 Gopro stabilization in low light is crap - footage non usable (see another video for this comparison)

3. Filming in 120FPS provides more than enough slomo for my usage, especially if you use the premiere pro CC feature of optical blend. with optical blend, you can reduce a 120fps frame rate to 10% speed rate and still get awesome slo-mo. plus Gopro has no stabilization at all in 240fps, its not really usable for my purposes, unless you get a gimbal.
that being said, if you really need some SUPER slow-mo shots, use the gopro 240fps mode + gimbal + optical blend mode in post

4. Sony wins by a wide margin in low light conditions

5. Gopro wins in form factor, and rear LCD screen, as well as being waterproof out of the case.

CONCLUSION
Sony wins the most important categories, but best solution is to Own both cameras !

HI i have some questions.. i assume that you were NOT using any stablization devices attached to sony or gopro6 this whole video shooting comparing session and ALL ON ITS its own video camera devices only correct?...i have gopro6 and having stablization problems even with stablization turned on and protune checked. Thank You!

Is the OIS and EIS turned on in the Sony? I ask because it seems like your video is the only one that actually shows the GoPro as more stable than the Sony. Also, would you say that the Sony has more of a flatter colour profile allowing for more post-production colour grading?

blown out highlights with the gopro vs the sony. easier to bring out detail in the shadows then to bring color back from blown out highlights

Hero 6 is on a gimbal here as I've used my Hero 5 and 6 black and they never turned out this good (the latest firmware have all Hero 6 owners upset about stabilization as well). Returned both as you always need to do post processing to make the GoPro footage look good. I didn't want to waste time doing more post processing than enjoying my vacation (You also spend more time doing post processing than taking videos). Note that this is from an amateur that wants to enjoy what he's doing and not have to worry about wasting hours to post process footage from a day in my vacation.

Does Sony's OIS conflicts with gimbal's stabilization?

I've seen it on every GoPro Hero 6 video that the contrast is way too over the top plus the Sony definately has better dynamic range and so you see more detail in the shadows as well as sky on bright days with shadows.

As the Sony FDR-X3000 wams up, the 4K video quality progressively worsens. More and more Sony users begin to note this after using their X3000 for more than 20 minutes...the video quality begins to degrade significantly.

Sony always looks better, better color range and hues

At the end of video where you are running, it is very apparent that the Sony OIS is better than Hero 6 EIS. Hero 6 EIS can suddenly shift the frame. BUT the Hero 6 image quality is noticeably better than the Sony. The Sony is dark / muddy.

Go pro is way too contrasty in all video, so if you do any post - don't get go pro, cause it's too rich, sonys flat look is perfect for post production
