I have both the M2 and Max. Both sound great and each has its own application for different situations. The Max has recording in the transmitter which is the only reason to use it if needed. The M2 size is its best strength to use it.

Thanks for the comparison! My only grip with the video is that you have 2 transmitters, 1 being used and 1 in the box, yet you never take it out to show us what you are describing.

Aside from the barebones demonstration of the M1, we never really get a visual rundown of the others as you describe them, still had to go elsewhere to see an example of the M2 windbreaker being worn visually

M2 Sounds more clear than Max. Max has a little more bottom.

Not pointing out that the Max has independent recording of audio data is a BIG oversight for such a video. That is the big difference from the other two, not the sound. Duh.

Lark M2 to me sounds the best but I'm looking at MAX because of the ENC and the lav mic.

Great review! I think the M2 has the slightest edge in sound quality over the others.

However, I'm looking to buy either the Lark M1 or M2, but it's dependent on the thickness of the camera receiver. I need invisible stitching for Insta360 X4, where the receiver will sit on a cold shoe that is affixed on the side of the camera, but to remain invisible, I need to know the thickness of each. Thinner being better, and I'm sure the M1 already works, but if I can get the M2, with the nicer receiver options and dial, I would prefer that. But if it's too thick, then I would have to go with the M1. My only other question is the recharging case size of the M1 and M2, because I need to create a cutout in my weatherproof case's foam to place it in. Smaller is better of course. When they release a lark mark 3 with internal recording i will buy one. Bluetooth support would be nice as well. I don't really care about the 32bit. I like the Lark Max but i don't like the transmitter sizes compared to M2. So i want a lark Max with bluetooth support and small transmitters like Lark M2.

I've watched a few videos with "head to head" comparisons of M2 and Max. There are so many variables, but the differences I heard were the same. The Lark is muddy. The other review switched on "Vocal Boost" and now it's muddy with over-hyped mid-highs. So many cool features on Max, but it's not going to work for vocals. Maybe interviews is the limitation (and purpose).

the m2 and max sounds similar,
i don't really think it's worth double the price, except there are other functionalities.

Im pretty shure they all have the same mic capsule and transmitters the only difference is the battery size and design
