DJI Mic vs Rode Wireless Go II vs Hollyland Lark M1 - What sounds the best?

In this video, we compare the DJI Mic to the Rode Wireless Go II and the new Hollyland Lark M1 microphones. I did not adjust the audio in post - so you can hear the exact way each mic sounds.

All the systems come with two mics, removable windscreens, and charging cables. The DJI and Hollyland come with a nice case that also charges the mics. Though the wind muffs and cables do not fit into either case (would be great if they did!)

Both the DJI and Rode have easy-to-read screens, so you know the audio levels. The Hollyland does not, though you can adjust the audio level.

Which system sounds best to you? What system makes the most sense for your use? Let us know in the comments!

Very well laid out video, nicely explained. I liked hollyland compared to the other two. DJI and Hollyland sound similar to me. I liked it because of its size. Please continue to help others with more of these video. Thank you.

The Lark M1 having no internal recording and no jack for external microphones put them into a whole different category I think. Also, connectivity is another differentiator: the Rode and the DJI can act like USB microphones, I enjoy using the RODE with my smartphone connected through USB-C: it offers stereo recording capability on a smartphone and this way the audio circuitry of the phone is bypassed, all is high quality digital audio.

One big advantage for some people will be the onboard recording on the DJI. It won’t matter to some people but as an example you could use it with a GoPro without a media MOD or mic adapter and sync in post.

You’ll have the scratch audio from the GoPro or any camera without a mic input to make the sync simple.

Thanks for your time! 👍

One feature you didn't mention for DJI is its magnetic part to attach to the clothes. It's more convenient sometimes.

Great comparison. We have been using the Wireless Go II as a travel vlogging couple for over a year and have a 3rd party charging case but just ordered the DJI system as the Rode has interference issues and is "clunky"... so prob selling that setup soon to somebody...

Rode hands down sounds cleaner than all of them, unless you have the gain turned up on the DJI and the Holly. DJI and Holly sound gained up.

I lliked the Hollyland better than the Rhode but it did have more background noise. For my use, the Hollyland is the one for me. Thanks for the review.

Great job!! Thanks for the video and comparison. You seemed to be biased in your opinion regarding Rode. You said the DJI would be perfect except for the wind screen inside the case, but Rode doesn't even have a case, its a lot bulkier, and the sound drops out in less distance than the DJI. The sound quality between the Rode and DJI sound great, thanks for doing the test.

The Hollyland sounds better in comparison to others in its function and size, such as the Movo UC Duo, Ulanzi J12, and others.

Great video and review!!

Sold! We're getting the Hollyland for our sailboat (mast down = canal boat) trip from Belgium to the Mediterranean via the inland waterways this summer. Thank you for the excellent review. God bless, Chris, Rossella & Emma ⛵

I use the Rode wireless Go II for livestreams at church.
I bought Hollyland for my personal use. Just been waiting for the last 5 days for my courier to deliver it

Had the rode. Gifted it to my daughter in law with ALOT of extras including a charging case purchased separately that also charges other misc. usb items. The rode was too bulky for me. Happy with the hollyland and godox!

You can't connect a Lav to the M1. Other than that I think it sounds almost as good as the GO. I have a M1 and a GO, I also think the GO has a better range when a lot of interference is near( like cell phones ). As long as you are within 25 feet or an open field it should not be problem. The low end need a little help in post for me, but I mean very little help. I got mine for $115 on Prime Day and plan to use them to do some interviews. I have sound meters and a headphone jack on the ZV-E10 so the fact that it does not have meters is not a problem. As you could hear it could have a problem with hair noise from beards and long hair so you might want to use the wind hat at all times. I was happy with the buy and even if I do get something better later, I will always carry the M1 as a backup.

Great comparison, thx. I picked up the full 2x1 Hollyland set for a smidge over 100 euros/bucks, so I'm prepared to live with the shortcomings! I have a more "pro" set of audio gack as well, but the sheer convenience of the Hollyland is SUCH a boon. The hotter output also means you can turn down the camera's internal gain.

Thanks a lot for the reviews, it's super helpful! Have you tested it out by going further away from the camera? (especially the hollyland). I know that the DjI delivers an amazing sound even if you go pretty far from the camera, so I was curious about the hollyland.

Hollyland sounds good it’s just louder. Turn it down in post

Rode mic is too big, but saw the DJI and then the Hollyland and really like the sleeker look. Hollyland did sound a little tinny, but I can't pay over $300 for the DJIs.

I'm on the cusp of creating my own channel which will include a lot of walking/talking and static shots with me presenting from a distance. It seems that the Lark M1 would be a good fit for me since it keeps my startup costs reasonable and to my ears, the audio quality is more than acceptable. Thanks for the comparison. I just happened upon your channel and am now a subscriber.
