Torino | Italy

Torino is the wonderful former capital of Italy, based in the north west close to the alps. So many memories and adventures are connected to this city due to the semester abroad I spent there. With this Video I wanted to express Torinos beauty and charm with its baroque buildings, long streets and cosy cafés, because it is still one of Italy's most unsung cities.

Here are some interesting facts about Torino:

Torino is Italy's only true royal city.
It has the highest number of historic Cafés.
It is Italy's capital of chocolate.
It is the birthplace of aperitivo.
It is one of the food capitals of Italy.
It was the birthplace of italian cinema.
The world's most important Egyptian museum outside Egypt is located in Torino.
Torino has a wide range of nightlife activities.
The city boasts a number of modern and contemporary art museums, architecturally interesting buildings and futuristic projects.

Born and raised in Torino, had to emigrate almost 5 years ago in search for more luck. I've traveled a bit in my life, but no city, regardless of how beautiful it is, manages to give me the same feelings that Torino gives me. This city comes straight out of a novel, with its not many but grand and beautiful avenues, and its countless tiny, narrow, dwindling streets. The people at first seem so cold and distant, but in reality everyone burns with the kind warmth of familiarity and kindness. Words alone cannot express what kind of experience it is. Torino must be lived through and through, and it will leave an incredible, unforgettable mark on you.

I miss you Torino, with all my soul.

Fifty years ago I was an exchange student at Collegio di San Giuseppe in Torino staying with the Marini di Villafranca family and falling in love with the beautiful and underrated city and region. You've done a lovely job focusing on the many assets of this spectacular city.

Turin is a "live" catalog of everything you can find across Italy. Other cities excel in a specific style or field, whereas Turin shows it all at a glance. Every corner is a surprise and touring in Turin is a time travel experience over 2000 years of history. I live here and I adore my city, but the local administrations (and people too) are still reluctant to investing seriously in tourism. And yet this is not a flaw: what you see here is the real thing, not a show for passersby. Moreover, Turin is safe and you can go sightseeing without risking your life. Prices are affordable, the streets are not crowded and traffic is never unbearable. Public means of transport are difficult to understand at first, but Google maps will save your day when you need a bus. A little dirty maybe, but this is Italy, guys: we italians are never really up to the standards we claim.
