No Hyper-V Server 2022?!
When will the next version of Hyper-V come out?
We find out Microsoft will not release a new version of Hyper-V. Instead they want us to use Azure Stack HCI.
What is Azure Stack HCI?
HCI is hyper Converged Infrastructure. This essentially extends the same technology used in Azure into your datacenter.
Can I use my existing hardware for Azure Stack HCI?
The answer is not likely. If you are broadly dependent on Hyper-V. You have about five years to figure out what you will do next. Either way, it is going to cost money.

For really small organizations you can host Hyper-V VMs on Windows Pro. We run a 3-node cluster on Server 2019, I see no issue doing the same on 2022. Does Hyper-V server let you cluster (cluster shared volumes, iSCSI targets, etc)? If not, then what are the major advantages over Windows Pro? I use Pro to boot up exported VMs (backups) all the time. I realize Server supports more CPU cores, more memory, etc., but $1500 buys you a rackmount server case, 800W power supply, 64Gig RAM, an Asus Rack-series MoBo, mirrored M.2 SSDs. Another 500 buys you a copy of Server, and you can use that for an additional Virtual Server. If you need redundancy, your storage is probably an external multipath iSCSI array anyway. You can set up a 2-node Hyper-V cluster for $4K, including server licenses for the Hyper-V hosts (excluding the cost of the storage, which presumably you already have if you're upgrading). It sounds pretty cheap for a production setup that's pretty darn robust and redundant, and no cloud/Azure required.

Wait... I just RDP into one of my Server 2022 standard machines, and in the add roles and features, there is a checkbox to install the Hyper-V role plus the required remote management tools for Hyper-V... If I have time I'll remote into my lab and see if Server 2022 eval has this same role available and actually install it. never messed with Hyper-V, but was thinking about it, went with XCP-NG instead.

Can't you just install the Hyper-V role on a "normal" Server 2022??

Yeah this sounds right, they'll kill Active Directory soon too
