The entire time that I've been playing Astrobot in the back of my head I've been thinking "in what way could a potential PS5 Pro improve this and be worth it?" 120fps? Slightly more detailed shadows or marginally better anti-aliasing? The PS4 Pro was essential because the base PS4 couldn't even do 4k media playback. This feels completely pointless.

Will NOT be buying the PS5 Pro at that price point. I mean, even if I was ready to shell out 800 bucks, I’d expect a smaller / sleeker design than the PS5 Slim. I’m a huge Sony fan, but this is an unrealistic price point for them. Bring on the PS6!

Some people may not consider Nintendo's upcoming Switch 2 as a direct competitor, but I'd argue lots of people may be enticed to go Switch 2 for way less money...

650 was my limit. 799 is way over the price for what doesnt look that much better. As an owner of every PS released, The PS4 Pro wasnt all that. It was loud. And thats it. It wasnt really worth it. PS4 was €399 PS4 Pro sold for €399 and PS5 was €399. 400 extra for a little better looking and framerate. I have 2 x PS5s already each with an extra 1tb ssd in each. PS5 Pro can stay on the shelf while i switch back to PC gaming. PS6 better be alot better! And not cost 800

£700 sounds like an insane amount for a game console.
But food for thought- in 1982 a Commodore 64 cost £399 in the UK, it dropped to £229 by 1984. That's the equivalent of £1382 and £724 at today's prices.
In 1993 the Megadrive and Mega CD combo would set you back £379. That's £792 today!
Put in historical context (or compared to the cost of building a PC with similar capabilities) it doesn't seem so crazy. But I'm happy with my PS5!

I only use digital, but regardless the real crime here is £700 for some ray tracing, "*up to* 60fps" and "*up to* 4K" still, and graphical upgrade that 99% of gamers aren't even gonna notice! Never thought I'd say it, but Sony are conning folk with the Pro!

If it had a disc drive & if they said it is fully backwards compatible with PS1 PS2 PS3 & PS4....then perhaps the price would be justified

That price is... really high! And without a disc drive plus the vertical stand?! They're really pushing for consumers to buy digital aren't they.

Also, imagine how much the PS6 will cost.

This is ridiculous! Should I pay $780 for a console that run games better than ps5? Sony is taking advantage of the lack of a powerful competitor and its popularity among gamers. In the 8th generation, we needed pro gaming consoles because 4k TVs had just become popular and we needed a higher resolution, but now we have to pay so much for playing ps5 games with better rateracing and frame rate? Let's not forget that the advertising slogan of ps5 was 4k 60/120 frames and 8k, which also removed 8k from the box! Now, after a few years, they are selling the same to us with much higher price!

The first generation of Sony consoles I have owned, and I wont buy the Pro for the first time. Sorry Sony you have out priced me, and I have been with you since PS1. I will save my money for when the PS6 lands - as if this price is anything to go by, then I am anticipating this being the normal price.
