The info in this video is partially wrong.

As you slow a psc motor down below the synchronous speed, the amp draw goes up. The resistance to current is created by the back emf induced in the windings. The lower the speed, the higher the current. The typical 1075 rpm rated motor runs that speed under full load - completely unloaded, it's 1200 cfm.

As static pressure goes up, the blower wheel unloads due to being negative displacement. The wheel moves less air per revolution and the speed increases towards the synchronous - the amp draw goes down as a result. The speed increase is not close to enough to maintain airflow due to the wheel becoming less effective so airflow drops.

Take out a blower assembly with a psc, apply power with zero external static and the wheel will struggle to get up to speed, the motor will overamp.

The variable ecm motors on the other hand are programmed to maintain proper ecm - the module detects torque being applied relative to rpm and determines how much air is being moved -> it increases the rpm to get the flow rate.

Glad you brought this topic up. Seems to be a hot one on the hvac forums.

Augmenting the ductwork is a dirty word to a customer who only considers the cost at the moment.
