Learn how to use Epoxy resin with our simple beginners guide to getting started, mixing your resin, then pouring and adding mica powder or glitter for different effects.

Resin craft is a really magical craft and children love it too. Always be safe with resin and use gloves, a protective surface and a well ventilated workspace or a mask.

For more detail and practical tips, see our in-depth guide to how to use resin on our website:👇

00:11 You will need a protective mat, resin and hardener, cups, stirring sticks and a mould.
00:15 Warm your Epoxy resin in a jug of water
00:30 Mix the two parts of your resin together
02:49 Pour the resin into your mould, so the mould is half full
03:12 Firstly fill the mould so it's half full with resin
03:14 Leave to set for 24 hours or the length of time in the pack instructions.
03:16 Sprinkle confetti on to the hard resin
03:39 Pour a second layer of epoxy resin on top. Leave to set
04:00 Remove the mould to finish the coaster
04:13 Add mica powder and glitter to resin for a metallic effect
05:29 Pour into a mould and leave to set
06:28 This makes metallic-effect epoxy resin charms
06:38 Try using resin to make alphabet resin charms.

⭐️VERY IMPORTANT⭐️
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS wear a mask that is specifically made for FUMES. You NEVER want to use this resin, no matter how small your project is without this protection. You DO NOT EVER want to breathe in the toxic fumes that resins put off! And ALWAYS do it in a very well ventilated room. Never in a place where other people are around. These fumes are TOXIC, and you need to be protected. You only have two lungs, and you really need to protect them. So check the type of filters you buy making sure you buy the type specifically for FUMES. Be safe 💗

For the first mold you do, you mentioned to leave it dry for 24 hours before pouring the design we wanted. Won't that make the leftover resin in your cup dry up too by that time?

Thank you for this, very helpful as I'm new to using epoxy resin but have a specific need so I $pent on "clear cast epoxy" and on a silicone mold maker kit. I liked your clear instructions, lovely voice, purple nails, and the ink stains on your fingertips at the end -- really shows you are for real! What "ink" should I use for a semi-see-through lime green (i.e.. the Ryobi tools color)? I have purchased three Alumilite products from Hobby Lobby, "Clear Cast Epoxy" ($25), "Mold Maker" ($25), and "Mold Release" aerosol ($15) . All are labelled "Amazing".

You really don’t have to use that much of mica. A little goes a long way!
