Were the Khevsur really the descendants of lost crusader knights?

Nothing was more terrifying on a WW1 battlefield than hearing the knights praying and seeing a holy grenade being thrown into your trench.

This would be like if a dude dressed in full plague doctor garb rolled up to a hospital and applied for a job there.

It's definitely possible to take out a WWI era machine gunner with a highly experienced knight, even if the knights haven't been tech upgraded in many turns. You can max out their skill tree by fighting nearby barbarians for a long time, even if they become isolated on the map by national borders or terrain. Then if Ghandi or someone declares war, you can call them back into your territory, do a quick upgrade, and bam: instant elite modern unit. I like to put a Great General with these units to max out their effectiveness. Overall good strat from the Georgians in this playthrough.

The author John Ringo wrote the "Ghost" series where a modern American Navy Seal accidentally discovers a village in Georgia populated by descendants of the Varangian Guard. Bodyguards of the Eastern Roman Emperors called the Keldara. Great reading.

This might seem anachronistic, but WW1 saw soldiers return to medieval Era equipment and even tactics. Trench maces, plate armor, cavalry charges, it was really interesting to see.

American writer John Ringo did a great adventure series of books based on the Kevsur called “Paladin of Shadows”about this tribe in modern times.

That’s strange. I once had a dream about medieval knights in the trenches of World War I, and this brought that memory back. Absolutely fascinating- Thank you

Rarely do I find something new about Crusaders, knights, and guys like these. That's so cool! Thank you so much. I especially liked the description of their shields. Great video!

This is why I love unknown5 channel he always seems to find something that I've never heard of in history, this is a awesome story and would make for one hell of a good movie if made by Ridley Scott, maybe after he's through making gladiator 2 he can make a movie about crusader knights fighting in the first world war .

In WW2 tech was even more advanced and there was some madlad Scottsman attacking trenches with a claymore and actually killing his way through and making troops surrender....with a claymore...while they had idk, sub-machine guns, meaning if you have the element of surprise, against cloth armor or even keblar, and you get in their face: Swords > Guns
