I love how East loves Western culture while the West loves Eastern culture. Everything is coming full circle

I'm glad you acknowledged how much Japan loves their video games (and anime) based on European knights and medieval culture.

This makes complete sense when you realise that the Japanese love western culture for the same reason the west lives Japan, it's similar but fundamentally different.
Hell, there are larper groups who dress up as cowboys

I love how people like to argue this knight vs Samurai stuff. Both were adapted to the unique battlefield requirements to which they were forced to fight in. Both were firece fighters. They never fought, and if they did, I would imagine they would adopt new tactics or borrow from each other. The only thing that mattered is what worked and what didn't.

Also I love how both are displayed fighting in hand to hand combat on foot despite both mainly using horses.

Europeans: "Medieval Asia was so cool!"

Asians: "Medieval Europe was so cool!"

I didn’t even think about that. While people in the west love looking at samurai, people in Japan love looking at the west… we like each others stuff!

Many people are obsessed with exotic goods and history. That "exotic" factor is used all over the world.

Very casual "Hello noble ones!"

You can really see Japan's love for European mideval esthetic since the majority of their isekai animes and mangas. Most have European style architecture, armor, and weapons.

The late Terry Pratchett had a go at this in his Discworld Novels, where a Tibetan inspired Lama-figure qouted British housewife sayings and acted like their were of great wisdom and importance. To the extend that said housewive had to chase away young monks from her front door who were listening in on her wisdom, while having tea with the neighbour.

Japanese; oh my God, medieval knights are so cool and sexy
Americans; oh my God Japanese samurai are so cool and sexy
The French; oh my God, I’m so cool and sexy

This is why that idea that cultural appropriation is inherently offensive never rang true for me. Imitation and emulation are often the sincerest forms of flattery. And cultures grow by their interaction with other cultures.

Just saw an interesting video with a Japanese sword master experimenting with a longsword for the first time.

There was things he liked about it, but the prominent hand guards were a little awkward for him. It was really cool seeing a skilled Eastern swordsman dipping his toes into western weapons and his unique perspective on it

Love how you had to dub yourself while in the milanese armour because it would have been too loud otherwise

My firends were suprised whne I told them european medieval swordfight has its martial arts with grapling and disarming technigues no different from Jiu-jitsu.

the Japanese absolutely adore western medieval culture more than samurai culture. The influence that Berzerk has on so many modern Japanese fantasy literature is proof of it.
