Important: I COMPLETELY misread "Manifold Edge"! You choose a second hunter's edge INSTEAD of your base subclass. It does not combine them. This feat is actually terrible and I hate it. (Thank you to premiere chat for correcting me!)

"Why are you concealed from everyone but your prey?"

So it, and only it, knows you're coming for it.

I can't help but feel that Pathfinder 2E's Ranger is more in line with how a system would portray Drizzt Do'Urden than any of the editions of D & D.

One of my favorite ideas for a Ranger is combining the Outwit Edge with the Dandy archetype to make someone who is very good in social situations. Who says Hunt Prey is only a combat thing?

Glad to see nonat defending outwit and it best feats because those were the things that won me over to this system in the first place cuz I can make a non-magical support ranger.

Outwit Ranger with Rogue Archetype and Monster Hunter feat line gives you all the skill increases you need to do anything and using Nature as your only Recall Knowledge is really good. Basically mandatory for the build, but it's strong as heck.

Shadow Hunter is actually an awesome feat for situations in which you're fighting multiple enemies. It means that everyone except your Prey has a flat 25% chance to miss you with every attack. It lets you focus much more on your prey, which is basically the whole point of the class.

I've not gotten to play any pathfinder 2e yet, but I have absolutely loved their take on the ranger. I've already planned three seperate characters for the class.

One thing to note about the Wild Stride portion of Favored Terrain is that you only get the additional bonus while in that favored terrain. So the +10 land speed from Plains only applies while on a Plain

Fun Fact: striking twice with Hunted Shot actually increases your chances of proccing Precision Edge more than the +2 from Hunter's Aim does, EVEN AGAINST A CONEALED TARGET. Unless you're using a crossbow (and can't used Hunted Shot), Hunter's Aim is a trap feat.

"Monster Hunter is an underrated feat because it doesn't do extra damage"

You're right and you should say it

Shadow hunter doesn't affect your prey because it's designed to encourage one-on-one fights. It's also great if you've hunted prey through tracking. It's easier to sneak past their minions and get close to the prey. #AssassinRanger

Deadly Aim is literally a rollover feat from Pathfinder 1st edition. Same exact penalty, same exact benefit. And you are right. It worked better in first edition when crossbows had a crib range of 19-20.

Ranger is my favourite martial too. My first character concept for 2e (and favourite next to a recent one using Gunslinger) is a dwarf precision ranger monster hunter, where I try to include way too many feats on him and praise the lord for the free archetype rule because he's built with the alchemical crossbow in mind, then snare crafting because bomb snares. Felt really cool to have a high intellect, wisdom and dex hunter capable of crafting shit and rather than being the super nimble sort, just being a crack shot with a crossbow, learning everything he can beforehand and taking every single advantage he can find before he even touches monsters (like strapping the crossbow with bombs matching a monster's weakness, tons of snares). The iconic ranger art from 1e really pushed this too because I love how strapped the dwarf looks with survival gear, though this particular one will be strapped with bombs from his alchemy kit. Also Gunslinger archetype for the reload options, parry crossbow and Alchemical Shot just made the build even better.

Other favourite build is a dwarf vanguard gunslinger demolitionist, I'm not even a big dwarf fan, they just feel right for the sturdy crafting types with a side of alchemy.

Watching this I remember why I liked playing, even for a short time, my Sniper in Starfinder. So fun.

Wait, if I use firearms with this class, am I a Texas Ranger?

For shadow hunter, I also think it says you cannot be automatically concealed to your prey. You could still use stealth skills to hide from them. You can also skip hunting them while sneaking up on them.

How I'd fix hunter's edge/masterful edge would be giving each subclass a secondary effect, like flurry ranger getting a free 5ft step at the beginning of their turn or precision getting a bonus +1/+2 to hit on their first attack each round

The outwit edge skills can also apply their bonuses to initiative rolls, which is nice.
