My Thoughts on Ezra Not Using His Lightsaber...

I know many Ezra fans were punching the air about this moment in Ahsoka where Ezra didn't use his lightsaber, but personally I thought it was cool to see someone just rely on the force.

He did use a blaster in that battle though… I think it’s actually him.

"Having a laser sword doesn't make you a Jedi." - Kanan Jarrus

I think people are overthinking it; he simply didn't want Sabine to be without it, while he's used to doing without it. I think he'll grab one later, or make one.

I think it’s important to remember when Kanan Jarrus took Ezra’s lightsaber away.

The Bendu: Why take his weapon?

Kanan: He needs to learn to solve problems without it.

It's literally the most Ezra thing he could do. He's reckless and he's confident in his abilities. That's why he jokes around all the time. That's why we love Ezra. He did shit like that all the time in Rebels. He's like that. His friends are always surprised by his way of thinking. Just like in the last Rebels episode, no one knew Ezra's original plan. It was completly out of the box, it was reckless at times, but he was always confident and pushed through.

He’s had roughly ten years of working only with the Force, imo it makes sense that he isn’t comfortable using his lightsaber, especially if Sabine said she had been training with it. During those years I’m assuming he trained his Force powers.

I mean in Rebels when he faced Thrawn he just had the force.

But he DID use inanimate objects, plenty. Ezra is there. He used a blaster. He drove turtle RVs.

If Ezra is fake that means all the turtle people have to be fake. And Ezra referenced Sabine’s past training and Thrawn wouldn’t have known about that.

Honestly, Ezra probably did more damage using Forcebending than he would with Disney's plastic lightsabers.

That’s definitely Ezra. I think he’s not wanting to use his true power until necessary. He might be getting Kanans lightsaber which is in Thrawns possession. Also I think he wanted to encourage Sabine to use it and not take that away from her because he’s that good a friend. But that’s for sure him

Your reading into it more than it needs to. Ezra not using his lightsaber in the fight is because he’s grown and learned to fight and survive without it. Because Ezra isn’t as legendary or as popular as Luke, Anakin, or Palpatine I figure people can’t wrap their minds around the fact that Ezra is most likely capable of those things at this point in his life and his experiences.

I think just like he said, it isn’t Ezra’s saber anymore. It’s Sabine’s saber. He gave it to her. If he uses a saber at all, it will be a new one.

I think it's in Ezra's personality to not use it, thinking he looked really cool just using the force to fight. Showing how good he's got with it

I think most tend to forget just how strong with the force Ezra actually is. Back when he was still training as a padawan, he force mind controlled a stormtrooper in a walker to kill his own allies, and then walk off a ledge with it.

In all fairness, I feel like Ezra in rebels was stronger with the force than he was with a lightsaber. In the show, he was never truly remarkable as a fighter and didn’t have that much training. However, we’ve seen time and time again that Ezra’s connection to the force is much stronger than the average Jedi. To me, it makes sense that he would sooner fight without his lightsaber, especially after surviving so many years without it.

Kanan is why he didn't use his saber. It's that simple. Kanan always taught Ezra how to _survive._ Not just *fight.* I honestly don't know why people CLING to "this weapon is your LIFE" as a way to have issue.

_Yoda himself_ (you know, Grand Master Yoda, one of Luke Skywalker's masters) said, "For my ally is the Force. And a powerful ally it is." Each lesson for a Padawan is appropriate for the time they're in. Ezra was much more attuned to the Force like Kanan, so Kanan focused a lot of training on that vs. using the saber. "He's gonna need to learn to solve his problems without it."

Ezra didn't immediately grab the blaster like people think. He used his unique style of fighting for most of that fight even against Shin who DIDN'T body him like people seem to think. Ezra not taking the saber to me, shows he's taking Kanan's lessons to heart, and that Kanan lives on in him. This is all pretty obvious if you watched Rebels.

He used a blaster and hugged Ahsoka. So he’s definitely physical (not just a vision). Unless he’s some sort of golem, which I suppose is possible; I think it’s much more likely that it’s actually Ezra and he’s just gotten used to not having a lightsaber out of necessity. Oftentimes the simplest explanation is the correct one.

Dude it’s totally in character and fits the timeline, Kanan and Ahsoka both taught this lesson to Ezra about not relying on his lightsaber and that it doesn’t make you a Jedi and also he’s been without it for 10 years, right now he’s more comfortable and In tune with the force to not want it right now and he also gave it to Sabine I’m alright with her keeping it and he will probably make a new one like his original one with a hybrid blaster or he finds his masters lightsaber on Thrawns ship and uses that in the future because it’s canonically in Thrawns possession right now. 👍🏻
