The notion of a flawless marriage or relationship is a myth. There's no set formula for success; what works for one couple may not work for another. Yet, I've discovered that there's always a way forward, even in the most challenging times. Five years ago, my wife and I encountered significant hurdles in our marriage that nearly led to divorce. Despite the adversity, we managed to weather the storm and emerge from it with our bond renewed and revitalised

Love these lists! You should read Piranisi. It is so good and will work on audio. House of Leaves almost broke my brain, but it was worth it.

I so desperately wanted to love Coup de Grace; Sofia Ajram is a photographer and a jeweler and I've been following her endeavors for the longest time. I mean, I wear her offerings and have a massive framed photo of hers in my house! But. Sadly. I could not get past the first chapter of the ARC I had for this book. 😞 And oh! The Blue Hour was on my list but just because I like Paula Hawkins. I didn't actually know anything about it. But an Artist! And Isolation! My favorite combination! The CJ Leede book is interesting...it's got a main character that is SO DIFFERENT from that of the one in Maeve Fly, but I did enjoy them both. I read This Will Only Hurt For A Moment last week...while I don't think it was amazing, it was fun in the way that these kinds of books always are if they're not downright awful, and I really enjoyed the main character's internal dialogue with herself. She was kind of a hoot. And lastly, I literally finished Private Rites just this morning! I found it one of those books that didn't always keep my attention...until all of a sudden it did. I don't know what changed. Julia Armfield's a weird one. Her writing is so unlike any author in my memory, but I struggle to articulate why. There's this lush intelligence to it that's so absolutely unique. It's somehow scientific and philosophical distilled into emotions...but it's not like it's overly fraught or emotional? Argh! I don't know! I'll be very curious as to your thoughts if you read this one though.

SO looking forward to Bog Wife and Absolution...I just got on my library hold list for the first one, but the second one it's like they've never even heard of, ha!

P.S. Is Model Home by Rivers Solomon on your radar? That one is out on 10/1 and I finished it earlier in the week. It's brutal in certain ways, a rough read. But a good one. I was reading it at the same time as Private Rites and it was a weird synchronicity, because a huge focus in both of them were sister/sibling dynamics and grief regarding complicated parents.
