My headcanon for right now is that early in his life when the emperor learned his destiny, he he went around to everybody who knew his real name and killed them or erased their memory of it until only he himself remembered. Then through shear force of will and probably warp fuckery he forgot his own name so that it would be permanently lost to history and no one could have power over him

Considering that in the lore he is actually an amalgamation of a bunch of shamans he would technically have a bunch of true names one for each of the shamans and one for himself as he currently is. It also is worth contemplating whether or not the names of the peoples souls that are sacrificed daily to keep him alive are also added or not.

Good luck, Valdor. Anyone that knows his name from 5000BC is gone. It would be one hell of a find if the Emperor's name was scribbled on some rock graffiti in the middle of the desert.

My personal theory is that the Terminus Decree (a single peice of parchment that supposedly has something on it that will either save or doom the imperium, held in the fortress of the Grey Knights on Titan) simply has the Emperors True name. Saying it as a word of banishment similar to a daemon will kill the emperor, and he will be reincarnated as a new chaos god fully, but whether that chaos god is strong enough to survive the other 4 is the real question. It will either give humanity their god again, strong enough to defeat the other 4, or the others will consume him and humanity will fade into the darkness

The Emperor was born in Anatolia in 8000 bc so his name would have to align with the language in that area at the time
