I experienced mania when I had intense depression and had a major perspective shift, specifically a change in gratitude in an intense way. So the contrast of deep depression and intense gratitude basically more than doubled what would just be “intense deep gratitude” and induced mania in me.

It was night when it happened. The mania was so powerful and surged my thoughts while everyone slept that I was unable to slee the entire 8 hours that night and I was already up for 16 hours. I couldn’t sleep after the full 24 hours passed either because we had stuff to do. Wasn’t tired but definitely felt as if the only thing preventing it was the mania.

Depressive times have a lot of weird emotions that come with it that are unexplainable. The healthier I am the more explainable and simpler.

I have graves disease that was only diagnosed after I was extremely hyperthyroid and had to be hospitalized because my heart was at risk. I experienced a pretty extreme episode of mania for several months after as my doctors tried to calm down my thyroid level. My doctor had the wisdom to put me on leave for several months. I eventually had my thyroid removed. My mania subsided, but I ended up chronically depressed and was sleeping 14+ hours/day for several years. And my brain never returned to it’s previous level of functioning. I don’t remember new things very well. I’m extremely intelligent, and it’s very frustrating that the brain I loved doesn’t function in the way I want it to anymore

I think I had this happen to me when I went from 10 mg of prozac to 20mg. It was a slight manic though but it felt amazing after being in a post pardom depression sludge for a couple years

Also psycho medications can cause it and other conditions. Psycho pharma is neurotoxic.

Hashimotos can you make you feel literally so different, its not pretty. And also steroids make you just feel hyped up and not a normal mood

How come, the day after I take an extremely high dose of Dextromethorphan, I’m very peaceful, mindful, and happy? I mean, the trip is fun and sometimes scary due to existential realizations, but I’m talking about the day after. I’ll stay up tripping all night, and then, the next day, long after the trip is over, I feel renewed. This always happens, but only if I don’t sleep after tripping.
Side note: I rarely trip… maybe one to three times a year.
