Do octane boosters actually work? With live Data on my phone. Also a small update on the car. Hope you enjoy!

ps this is not a sponsored video.

Hi my name is Katarina, I'm  25, and I'm an avid car enthusiast. I own a 1981 ford mustang. My 81 is a pretty much base notchback with the 200 inline 6, c4 automatic, and is pretty much bone stock (for now).. Also just acquired a 1978 Honda Civic that is a one owner 120k original km car that has sat since May of 1995. I pretty much live and breathe vehicles. Everything from muscle, imports, trucks, modern, old take your pick. I know a ton about cars due to a ton of research and working on the cars that I have.

Oct booster can be very good for Subaru wrx sti. Those who have cobb access port. “ Aka anxiety port” with this tool We are able to monitor D.A.M, feed back knock, fine knock learn, these are very common for Subaru owners to monitor and recommend. If these numbers change they can indicate a serious problem or possible bad gas etc..
Now after I was tuned apparently the tuner used better gas when they tuned my car, which I was confused. The gas in Calgary aren’t always accurate with their oct levels. I use 91 at shell and Husky, apparently there’s been test done to see how accurate and consistent oct levels are at these gas station we have, By far Husky and shell is the best. About a month ago I’ve been seeing Dynamic Advance Multiplier = D.A.M drop from a healthy 1.000 to 4.00 which is bad! Along with fine knock learn from 0.00 to -3:50 and feed back knock from -1:40 to -4:45 which is not good! My car lost power specially going into boost! brought this up to my tuner, He said try oct booster and see if thing get better, if not they can possibly dial down the tune, if that fails then I have something wrong with the engine possibly. I was freaking out and worried I’d become another typical statistic Subaru owner with a bad engine lol. After using the SPT octane booster for month. My baby is running so much better, no more dam drops going WOT, and all my other parameters I monitor are good now! So I can vouch the stuff works! I even feel the car pulls a bit harder now or it could be in my head. But now I’ll always use the octane booster just cause Calgary doesn’t have better gas like 94 oct. Petro gas and chevron 94 isnt consistent unfortunately. anyways any Subaru owner experience what I had, definitely try oct booster. these EJ engines are even more sensitive then I thought! Sorry for the rant, after seeing your experience wth oct booster I felt like sharing my experience. I’m just very happy now my car isn’t about to blow up…. Yet 😅

I don't know about octane boost, but I find Sea Foam does much better over all. I put an entire bottle in every time I fuel up.

Typically you put 1/3 bottle in the gas tank, 1/3 bottle sucked into a main vacuum line to the intake, then 1/3 bottle into the oil, run it for about 15 minutes then change the oil.

Nice to see an old buttstain with a tower of power under the hood. Not too fond of mustangs but those fox bodys are by far my favorite. I've got. 65 buick skylark with a 300 cid v8, a very high compression motor from the factory. I gotta run 93 octane plus octane booster in mine at all times to keep the pinging down with today's shitty gas. That almost 11:1 compression sure is an expensive motor to run. I've got a 2 spare buick 455s and I'll drop one of them in the old girl soon as I finish tinkering on my 72 j4800 jeep gladiator.

Sure is great to see a girl out there interested in her car, knows about her car and working on her car. Awesome!
On a side note though, that world of tanks t shirt looks good on you but damn, I was a beta tester for that game and finally stopped playing it 2 years ago. I went through a few keyboards and monitors over that game making me rage!

That first gear shifts to quick. U need more RPM in first. U should see if u can adjust ur Vacuum modulator on ur trans for later shift. Also u should look into a newer ignition module to help with ur hesatation. Keep up the good work KId!

LOVE it! Love the enthusiasm, and the curiosity about "what does what" If you do want to get a little more "oumph"' from the booster, try kicking the timing up 2 or 3 degrees, other than that, I doubt just boosting the octane is going to do anything unless you are hearing pinging where the timing is now. I agree with Rob, you need to see at LEAST 4500 to 4800 before the 1-2 shift. Keep it up girl!!!

I carry octane booster in the tool bag on my bike at all times. The bike’s engine is modified and requires no less then 93 octane. Once in a while I find myself needing to fuel up and the station doesn’t 93 octane. It’s gotten me out of a bind on more than one occasion.

Some thoughts. The higher the octane the slower the fuel burn. High octane fuel is used in high performance engines with high compression or power adders like a turbo /superchargers to prevent detonation (spark knock). In the late 90s the Ford Contour/ mercury Mystique would misfire and set the check engine light if you ran any higher than 87 octane gas. So if you need the higher octane I say go for it but if not it would likely cause a loss instead of a gain. It would be interesting to see the results after you get the tune dialed in. Have a great Friday.

Do you powerbrake to start off? Left foot on brake Right on gas in low or drive. Bring revs up to get max torque converter multiplication off the line. May help bogging by already having some revs.

I havent had Pizza hut since the 90s.. I forget how greasy dat shit is... might have to try it this week.. haha all kidding aside..octane booster does give some benefits for sure...but buying it for daily driving is not cost effective... especially with the current price of fuel...The only money Id ever spend on additives is fuel injector cleaner every now and then and of course Sta-bil for storing.
