The federal government on Tuesday began awarding billions in funds to passenger rail projects across the country, including earmarking more than $6 billion for two ambitious projects currently underway in California.

So what’s the difference between the California High-Speed Rail and Brightline West?

It’s actually sad that Mexico can build rail roads faster than us. Aren’t we supposed to be the #1 leader in North America but we take 15 years for 1 system

No way it’ll get done by then. And most of that money will just disappear.

So necessary, the drives from LA to Vegas are heinously terrible, this will be great for the environment and time saving on that journey.

This will eliminate Cali's huge deficit for sure.

Watch the end of “Blue Thunder” (1983) with Roy Scheider. The movie pays off with a simulated newscast where Mario Machado says something like, “Up next, the weather, and a sneak preview of a Japanese bullet train soon to be seen in the Southland. Maybe…”
That was 41 years ago. And finally now work has started on high speed rail to Las Vegas. This country can be maddening.

China's infrastructure has surpassed the rest of the world, I think is because they are not patrolling the world, that's super expensive😢

Brightline should just buy out the CA HSR. Privatizing it will be the only way to get it done since the state government can't seem to get it's shyte together.

China has world's largest high speed railway network as long as 42, 000 km (26, 100 mi) and capable of accommodating high speed trains running at 250 - 350 km/h (186 - 217 mph)
Just sayin'

The last time billions were given to California for a rapid commuter train it was never complicated. Rail from nowhere to nowhere rusting away in the desert. So I understand.

Wonderful idea. Too bad govt. is in control of planning/building though. The Calif bullet train project has been in development for decades and nothing has been built. The Vegas train makes much more sense and was also proposed many decades ago yet is just now getting any attention.

Unions and government workers in this country move at a snail’s pace.
Expect completion the same year a human walks on Mars.

One thing I’ve realized is that the government has limitless money. Infinite money.
