The $12BN Las Vegas-LA High Speed Rail Plan

Показать описание
Brightline is planning to build a $12 billion dollar high speed rail line between Las Vegas and LA. Building off its first line in Florida, Brightline West will stretch 351 kilometers between Las Vegas and Rancho Cucamonga, slashing the current 4 hour 20 minute drive to only 2 hours ten minutes. The line will then link up with LA’s regional metrolink, transporting passengers into the heart of downtown. The project will create 35,000 construction jobs and will positively impact the environment. Construction is planned to start in late-2023.

What do you think? Is a Las Vegas-LA High-Speed Rail line a good idea?

I like the idea of putting the tracks down the center of the highway. That way it will be a good advertisement for all those people stuck in traffic.

The more passenger trains there are in America, whether they're publicly or privately run, the better!

Really hope that Brightline looks to the Midwest and the Great Lakes region. Chicago being the capital of rail in the country, would be really cool to see HSR connect Chicago to all the large Midwest cities around the region

If a rail connection is added to phoenix from la (and all of the other current hsr projects go through), then the California/far southwest region of our country will have a world-class high speed rail network… nice!

I doubt that I will be there to see it’s completion but a great thing to happen to Nevada and California. I’m glad that it’s finally getting started. Congratulations Cal/Nev!😊😊❤

Rancho Cucamonga is definitely a much better terminus than Victorville but it's really annoying that they can't just go all the way into Los Angeles downtown on upgraded existing tracks. I know it's because of freight companies but it just feels like it could be easy if it weren't for that corporate beaurocracy. Since Brightline makes most of their money off real estate from what I heard, the rancho Cucamonga station will probably be more profitable if it's the terminus than it would be if it was just a stop, so I guess that's another reason for their decsison but that still feels like an annoying reason to sacrifice convenience.
Buy hey, it's Highspeed rail! Its still better than if it didn't exist at all. And now that it's at least in the LA urban area, it's probably going to be pretty successful despite the annoying location, and it would be easy to extend it into downtown in the future if the situation ever changes with the freight companies.

If they can do it for 12B that's actually incredibly good value for HSR, I suspect they won't be able to do it for 12B

That train you showed was not metrolink but the LA Metro light rail

Nah, Elon Musk should just extend his Vegas Loop idea to go from LA to Vegas! A one-lane underground tunnel of Teslas traveling slowly is genius!

We do need high speed rails imo

Loke Florida to any outher states that would be fun and cheap

to the people who think this won't be completed. Look at Florida There Probably Half done. Brightline is a Private Funded company. & Japan had Similar problems when they had the first HSR Just like CAHSR.

It’s only been tried 12 times. I’m sure this time, it’ll happen

Yeah I can see this happening now. There was a plan to do one through the central valley connecting L.A. to the Bay Area.
