Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

Показать описание
The Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test, or PFT, evaluates stamina and physical conditioning. It includes 3 parts: pull-ups or push-ups, plank pose, and a 3-mile timed run. Note that as of 2023, crunches were replaced with the plank as the mandatory abdominal strength evaluation for the PFT.

Pull-ups and push-ups are essential to building the upper body strength necessary to win battles.

Planks are critical to maintaining a strong core and being battle-ready at a moment’s notice.

Males must complete the three-mile run in 28 minutes or less. Females must complete the three-mile run in 31 minutes or less.

About the United States Marine Corps:

The Marine Corps defends the people of the United States at home and abroad. Within every Marine is the willingness to engage and determination to defeat any adversary, and it is this fighting spirit that allows us to fight and win our Nation’s battles.

The mission of the United States Marine Corps is made up of three promises: We make Marines, we win our Nation’s battles, and we develop quality citizens prepared to fight and win battles.

You don’t join the Marines—you become one, forged in the crucible of training aboard our recruit depots on Parris Island, South Carolina, and in San Diego, California, or through the dedication required of officer candidates at Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Virginia. Beyond the physical requirements, aspiring Marines must prove they have the honor, courage, and commitment to face and defeat any obstacle.

Today, more than 180,000 enlisted Marines and 23,000 Marine Officers serve in active duty or reserve forces on bases and in communities around the world, proudly carrying with them the core values of the Marine Corps.

Imma be honest I didn’t realize the pft and the initial requirements were two different things that makes me feel a little better about my chances even though I’ve improved a lot over the last 6 months getting ready

I can't remember exactly what the minimum was in 1969 but our final fitness was to do 10 pullups or more, as many sit ups, squat thrusts, as many pushups, 50 foot rope climb, 3 mile run under 30 minutes. Maybe someone here has a better memory of the final fitness test. Semper Fi.

Good thing I was a Marine in the 80's. Although I am working out now I'm not sure I'd ever run 3 miles that fast. Not sure if I could have done pull-ups but I did always max the flex armed hang & sit ups.

I’m trying to be a marine
I’m not doing anything with my life just working dead end jobs and very depressed and unmotivated for a year or two (cuz of the death of my brother and mom)
I’ve been running about 2.5 miles though every morning (I know I need to improve ) but yeah and I’ve been trying to work on my pull-ups and pushups and crunches, etc. I still needa take the asvab
I hope i can do it
My step father was a marine and so was my god father
We’ll see

The key is to break the barrier of physical fitness.

I like their physical fitness test but the promotion in the Marines is slower than the Army.

I am 12, and my dream is to be in the military corps or anything like that one day. My dad was a cop, my brother served in the Marines for 4 years, and now he is a sheriff deputy (I think) at (not saying.) And I was wondering if I should start training now, and maybe in a year or so starting airsoft? It is my dream to serve the country, and I want to be the best I can for when I am able to enlist.

Man, they have lowered the bar since the early 90s.

Does it matter which type of pull up you do? I suck at dead-hang pull ups.

I’m basically a crunched up soda can used as a bacon grease container but I can shoot.
