Find the Führer - The Secret Soviet Investigation Episode 6: The Forgotten Theory

The fate of Hitler is one of the most infamous subjects in history - but the investigation of the nation that was best placed to find out, the USSR, is often ignored or dismissed in the West. This series examines what the Soviets found, both at the bunker and Reich Chancellery, and also the medical examination of the purported bodies of Hitler and Eva Braun. Kept secret until 1968, the Soviet files reveal many strange anomalies that challenge the established story of the ultimate fates of Hitler and his wife.
In this episode, I reveal a long overlooked theory that may explain why the bodies recovered by the Soviets don't match Hitler and Eva Braun.

As a young person and later when I was in the military we thought Hitler was endlessly devious and surely had a plan B to get out of Berlin. I guess he was too addled to give up and run. Mark your films look like you have a staff of 20 working, researching, editing, writing. You’re a machine. Very good work as always.

Yes, we will never know, but this is BY FAR the most consistent and logical theory out there. Period.

I think Heinz Linge told the truth in his 1955 inerview - he had no reason to tell lies then and was secretly very proud of what they had done. Thanks Mark for a compelling series

This has been some of the best stuff Felton has ever produced. Riveting from the first episode to the last.

The theory that their corpses were buried somewhere unknown and never found makes perfect sense.

My grandfather lost a leg in the fight for the bunker. He was basically there for the last fight. He was convinced until his death about 25 years ago that Hitler escaped with others on a plane that left before the use of the emergency airstrip was impossible.
However, he was a tanker and not inner circle (but I think consolidated under Waffen SS at the last minute), and a fellow soldier took off his black tanker uniform and insignia as warrant officer after he could not move from the shattered leg because either one would have gotten him killed by the Russians approaching: Either being an officer or having a black uniform - because there were only 2 types of black uniforms: SS and tankers. But by the time Russians come close, they didn't check insignias; they just shot everyone with a black uniform.
He was cared for for 2 years until his stump fully healed - Antibiotics were still an American military secret and leaving the hospital without proper care could have killed him. This way, he also avoided Siberia. He didn't know if his family was still alive and they didn't know if he was. They lived in East Prussia and all that was gone. So, he went to his parents-in-law, and found his wife and 2 older kids well and alive, and had 2 more - one of them my mother.

Considering this is a topic strewn with nonsense and ridiculous speculation, I appreciate Dr. Felton's rational reporting of the historical information and his rational theories where information is scarce or contested.

Dr. Felton, I suggest compiling the 6 episodes into a single feature length one. YouTube would surely recommend it a lot due to the premium length. This kind of historical investigation deserves to be heard by as many people as possible.

The disappearance of finding Hitler video from Mark Felton is even more mysterious 😮

What you put out is a 100 times better than anything that the History Channel has done.

This series has got to be your finest work in a long history of excellent scholarship, Felton. It’s a pity there isn’t an award category for YouTube content creation, because I feel this series is Oscar/Emmy/Golden Globe worthy. Well done!!

Good to see him using proper British terms like "buggered off".

Mark, I think your theory is spot on. This is what I had always thought happened to Hitler and Eva's bodies. I wish I could have asked my friends Otto Gunche and Rochus Misch who I got to know and became friends with in the early 90's. Both of them were firm in their belief that Hitler did kill himself along with Eva Braun and both heard the shot that Hitler used his pistol to shoot himself and Gunche was the first person to open the door and see Hitler and Eva dead on the couch. Misch watched as both bodies were carried out of the bunker. Gunche carried one end of Hitler and Linge carried the other end. Both of them went back into the bunker to continue destroying documents of Hitlers. I think this is where Rattenheuber and the others may have made the switch and buried the bodies in another location on the bunker complex.

This series is some truly remarkable journalism. Bravo Mr Felton. How Netflix has not hired you to make a full documentary of this yet I do not know. You are truly one of the treasures of youtube.

As a former medical examiner, I had come to the same conclusion as you and outlined it in the comments section of your last video in this series. It certainly makes the most sense based on the evidence available.

I have no trouble identifying Mark Felton. He's the guy who does the best WWII videos on YouTube and it's not even close.

...how ironic is that a man who strived for an everlasting glory during his lifetime, ultimately gained it in his death by barely managing to have a proper anonymous burial. Unknown burial that ultimately created a everlasting myth.

Mr. Felton thank you for this mini series. Truly a masterful production...:D
