Blue Velvet (1986) - Trailer (1080p, 4K remaster, actual scope)

When MGM presented the trailer in "scope" for their 2011 BD, they merely disguised the flat widescreen element for the trailer by exposing the area reserved for the soundtrack on the right, and cropping information on the bottom, creating an off-center image for the film footage. I have reconstructed the trailer in true anamorphic widescreen by using the 4K remaster on the Criterion BD. Unfortunately, some frames from the unconformed camera negative in the original trailer have not been kept, but these only amount to 2 to 4 frames in a handful of shots, with one major exception and usage of the reframed original trailer being the final shot of Frank, which has many more tail frames than would be noticeable to patch with the head or tail frames of adjacent shots. Since I had to take these liberties anyway, I also remixed the soundtrack to stereo.

Happy to find such a clear print of this preview, because other uploads here seem faded or washed out. I love Don LaFontaine's voice work in this. He was always good back during this era of narrated trailers. Anyway, thank you for your work on this.

Blue Velvet and 90s original TV series run of Twin Peaks is the perfect entry into Lynch's work :-)
