As you can see, skin care is as individual as you are. Everyone will have their own unique skin care range including their favorite cleanser, moisturizer active ingredient, and even procedure. Mine is depends on the season, I like a more fluid moisturizer like LRP or La Roche Posay light Hydraphase during summer, and Obaji Hydrate during winter. Procedure wise- I keep my routine simple. VITA or vitamin A peel once a month, and Picosure Focus once or twice a year. Minimal downtime, maximal results.

Here are some other skin care tips-

1. Avoid hot showers that can be drying. I never wash my face with hot water–it's too harsh. Only tepid-warm water at the sink, I don't scrub my face as it can be irritating.

2. Hydrate your skin from the inside out
Despite what you hear all the time, the amount of water you drink daily doesn't translate into proper skin hydration. It's vital to hydrate your skin from the outside in with a moisturizer.

3. Apply sunscreen to your neck, chest, ears and hands first.
Apply sunscreen to the neck, chest, and hands before the face–these areas age faster and are harder to improve than the face. Don't forget your ears- especially for men. We often forget to apply sunscreen there even though they're exposed as much as the face.

4. Let your lips guide your skin care routine. One tip to know when your skin is ready for seriously creamy moisturizers: Your lips feel dry first, so you know the humidity has dropped, and it's time for more moisture. A great all round lip moisturier is Lucas Paw Paw ointment, or for more serious hydration Elizabeth Arden 8 hour Cream. Did you know this was designed for her horses? True- Google it and you see she initially made this cream formulation for her stable of horses.

5. Never fly without SPF and a good moisturizer. Regardless, a daily sunscreen should be part of your routine, however did you know that UVA goes through airplane windows? Cabin humidity is low in all airplanes, and hence I use a extra hydrating moisturizer after every flight.

6. Keep your skin care simple if you have sensitive skin like eczema, seb derm, or rosacea. Using products like AHAs and vitamin A can, and often will flare up your condition. See a medical dermatologist for skin care tips. For skin rejuvenation in these patients I often use lasers- V Beam Pulse Dye laser for rosacea, and Picosure Focus or Clear and Brilliant are gentle lasers that actually work!

Apologies for the sound quality and video quality. Just swapped to the new DJI OSMO ... and its not as good as my Samsung Galaxy 6 Edge Plus ( not the one that blows up .. thats the 7). Really disappointed with the DJI gear- it works really well with outside filming as the camera is the same on my FPV Quadcopter Drone, inside... it s bad. Sorry again for the quality of this video.

I like to think in terms of active ingredients instead. Day : I use LHA, BHA, Zinc PCA, Sunscreen, Night : Retinol 0.5, Niacinamide, LHA, Hyaluronic Acid, various ions PCA, Panthenol. I need to add some vitamin C in the morning.

I went from a regular Dermalogica user to Elucent after a good friend recommended the range to me. Am very happy. My beautician, who I've been going to for facials for years, noticed the change in my skin and says that she's never seen it better! I think that's a good recommendation!

I've always wanted to keep my skin care routine simple and I felt the only way to do that was by incorporating retin a. I found it really harsh on my skin, but I'm sticking to it. I've seen videos of people who've used it for 20+ years, and even though I'm only 26 I want to use it for the rest of my life! Thanks for the video Dr.Lim

Best skin routine at home must include: Ascorbic acid, copper peptide, retinol, tca and microneedling (plus whatever moisturizer) at least. In my opinion

Thank you for the information! I use some of the Obagi Nu-derm line, skinceuticals phloretin cf, as well as retin-a. The sound was completely fine 🙂

To shed some light - Obagi is heavily sold through Dermatologist and med spa offices, and the staff who work in those offices may be getting it at a discount. I would not buy it online due to fakes.

This is a fantastic idea for a video. Can you also do one asking different dermatologists tips for different type of acne or what they do when they have a spot coming on? That would be awesome.

Haha Davin, I'm 68, I have no blocked pores or spots, I don't use makeup now (maybe a little blusher and lippy) and I don't apply any products to my skin apart from the ones prescribed by my doc for my eczema which is mostly on my legs. I don't even use soap, I use Dermol 500. Basically, you can't apply good genes, my skin is great for my age :)

I think you are absolutely right on not using one brands whole line. I pick and choose from medical grade skincare. I like Obagi, SkinMedica, Skinceuticals. For Sunscreen I like the Elta Md Clear. What do u think of serums Dr. Lim? I know they are the most expensive of the skincare lines. I think serums are worth splurging on. Thanks!

I use moisturiser with spf 30, wash my face with a facial wash from Aesop and use a sleeping mask every night. When I feel like extra moisturising, I wear a hydrating mask all day. I also make my own rayon sheet masks (glycerol, serum, rose water) and avocado and activated charcoal face masks. I have Retin A, kojic acid 4%, AHA peel 10% and lactic acid 80% (it's the mother solution I don't use it like that on my skin!!!!). I also have a Philosphy over night peel that I use once a month. When I go outdoors I use 30 or 50 spf sunscreen on top of my moisturiser with spf and cover myself. Only procedure I get is skin boosting injections. I'm only 25 and I don't have any wrinkles yet, but prevention is the key, right?

As always, informative video.  It was great to learn what people working in the skin care field prefer to use on their own skin!

Dr. Lim You mentioned using Picosure to keep wrinkle less visible. I did a test patch Picosure on my face, which didn't have any results. I mean my freckles and are still there. My dermatologist said I should set a realistic expectations on Picosure, because Picosure doesn't diminish wrinkles. What's your advice on this? And what Picosure settings are you using on Asian? I get more freckles diminished by IPL. What is your advice on freckles? Thank you
