Let me know if you'd like to see more videos like this about other kaiju!

The fact this guy was able to talk about the symbolism of a giant moth for 8 mins is probably the best part of the video

she is the personification of hope, trust and faith.
she is the only 100% good creature.
in a world full of gray characters, mothra stands alone as the pure light, ready to sacrifice herself for the greater good.
a true heroine.
the queen.

She didn't die for Godzilla just because, she died because she trusted him to keep the safety and peace on Earth.
She is the best, no doubts.

Culturally, Japan regards insects as less "icky" than the west. Children often keep beetles or other bugs as 'pets' and bug-themed merchandise is very popular with the Japanese.

I cried in KotM when Mothra parted the clouds and her golden light came down on the Monarch sea base. It's the darkest, bleakest, most hopeless point in the movie, both metaphorically and literally with how the film's cinematography removes color from the shot. But then Mothra spreads her wings and hope returns to our characters.

I also obviously cried when she died.

When I first saw Mothra, all I thought was "a giant moth? Yeah, that's REALLY original."

Now I respect her as the goddess that she is.

I would love for Legendary to do a standalone Mothra movie.

If Legendary is able to keep their rights, I think they should totally make a solo Mothra movie. Now say it with me. Hail to the Queen, hail to the Queen!

One of my favorite parts of KOTM was when Mothra revealed her final form to the humans and looking at her beauty in awe Dr. Chen says

" *Mothra.. Queen Of The Monsters* "

Something about the way she delivers that line always gets me and made me realize how munch I do love Mothra

My girlfriend loves Mothra! She especially loves the fact that she’s a “goddess”, one of the few females Kaiju, and that she’s always a force for good.

Mothra VS Godzilla is definitely one of my all time favorites. I like how her fragility adds this extra dimension of tragedy and dread to the whole thing, making her more heroic and Godzilla more of a bastard. The environmental message behind Godzilla is totally effective- nature getting revenge on us- but twisting it and having mankind be responsible for the death of something so beautiful and selfless is truly brutal in the way an antagonist can't often be. Kaiju perfection.

Mothra seems to be my only queen now. Daenerys is dead. Plus Mothra is technically immortal

When I was a kid I really didn't understand the nuance of the character and was pretty salty that Godzilla would get beat up by a moth, but now it's impossible not to cheer for her when she arrives in any of the movies. She perfectly represents the harmony of balance opposed to Godzilla's chaotic or destructive version of balance and she serves as a great foil to him. Any time they team up is a treat.

She is cute, fluffy and has the cutest "Roar" in the whole Franchise!!!
SHE made me a Fan of Japanese Monster Movies!

the idea of Godzilla and Mothra symbolising a *general* masculine/feminine duality to the protection of nature just fascinates me
(before anyone yells at me keep in mind the "general" part)

Mothra is my girlfriends favorite kaiju, she wants to get a tattoo of her! 👌

All the Japanese kaiju are character archetypes of that culture. Especially Mothra and Godzilla. The destructive (often self destructive) warrior/samurai and the innocent maiden.

They are very human, that is why they connect with us.

Mothra when she knows she’s gonna die but also knows she will be reborn: a small price to pay for salvation.
