Meanwhile padding their own pockets, while picking the pockets of the tax payers.
This is why i have sold all my properties. My county raised the taxes on one I sold from 15K to 114K! In one year!

Shouldn’t pay any property tax besides when you make original purchase. It’s your property why would you pay taxes on it over and over. The government isn’t mowing my yard or paying for anything on my property and I have no kids and never will.

BOTH things should be done.. property taxes in Texas are outrageous, and benefit the wealthy, not the every day person and certainly not anybody who is poor. Stop TAXING us to death and creating situations that cause people to lose their homes and their land. The maximum compressed school tax rate in my area is ridiculously overtaxing. I cannot believe all that has been done in my community to build new things for the schools that absolutely were not necessary.

Where I live almost everyone’s home tax assessment value raised a lot last year even when there’s no Improvements or even when the property had gotten in worse condition.

We should only pay taxes on the amount of purchase of home or business BOTTOM LINE. When the property is sold to at a higher value, that is when the property tax should go up. Stop all the nonsense mathematics that takes the value of owning property in Texas away. This is so demeaning and demoralizing to voters, property owners, citizens whom are the people.
