You do realize you're not supposed to flatten these? You peen over all the teeth by doing such. The correct way is to press them parallel and not squeeze them flat. GMP makes a modern tool that mirrors the original Bell system presser. I have both. If you don't have the proper tool, the next best is to use an oval style crimp.

Even when squished quite well.. I always strip and twist wires together.. tired once to skip that.. and of course over time was having issues.. screw it.. they are quick covers.. to me.. and squish with needle nose is like the worst tool.. far to weak.. I use Cutters which have Flat squish on handle side.. give the most strength I find..
