Century eggs or preserved eggs or millennium eggs are not actually 1000 year old! The process does take a few weeks where you soak eggs causing the to turn into a creamy texture and the color to turn into a dark-color jelly! This is one of my favorite also classic way to enjoy century eggs :)!

I wonder if anyone actually believes that the egg is this old because it’s just preserved duck egg it not even old in Chinese we call it “皮蛋” and when you chop it into small pieces and add them to congee it tastes amazing

So, the Century egg, is not really century, I just found out how are they made, just burn with ashes and salt, and kept for 20 days.

From where we’re from they are aka “horse piss eggs” allegedly they were preserve using ‘em piss. Fun fact : eat a dozen to ward off pesky wife/husband
