Street racing: inside the secretive world - BBC London

UK Street racers say they use public roads because race tracks shut too early and leave them with nowhere else to go at night. But with loud meet-ups happening most weeks, some residents are fed up.

What do you expect, we build race tracks, people move close to them and complain about the noise so they get shut down. We go to car meets and people complain and the police shut them down. Where do they expect people to go?

UK needs more for places and things to do for it's people - Like they have over in the US. Why can't there be proper cars and coffee, paid race tracks etc.

I think our way of having fun is going on holiday - in another country - couple of times a year

Idiots are closing down all the race tracks no wonder people race on the roads . We have 1 proper dragway in the country and all the other circuit tracks either have rediculous rules as stated or the price for a track day is out of this world.

They need to do more like in America. They have drag strips which you can just go and use at your own risk. They have cars & coffee meets, they do loads to try stop racing happening on the streets!

Loads of the race tracks in the UK are only open on select days, with very strict rules even on RWYB days.

There’re so many abandoned old airplane runways in the UK these could be opened up to people on a ‘at your own risk policy’ you smash your car up or someone else’s it’s on you.

Noise complaints in Enfield good joke. The closest houses from where meets are held in Enfield are a mile down the road. They are held in industrial areas for a reason. No one goes to industrial estates such as these during these times as everything is shut and we leave before workers and delivery vans arrive. Love how they don't mention that the other day the reason the police were cracking down so much is because 1. A police officer run over a girls foot didn't even apologise then the officers car got attacked by a small minority of people there (which was wrong granted). 2. A drunk driver did a hand brake turn into a few people resulting in them being hospitalised. Just because we are okay with driving the way we do from time to time does not mean we are even slightly okay with drink driving. It is an awful offence and should be dealt with as such.
