I live in Norway which is not a member of EU and my opinion is that this is just an another good reason for Norway to stay out of the EU when you see what’s happened in USA and how seriously bad it could end

Hopefully it’s a reversion to the mean. Societies have become whacko. Telling people to continue shoplifting because they “deserve it” is shocking for a citizen to say, and for an elected politician to say it signals that things have gone insane. Vote for normal.

3:00 For context (as your guest is not providing a full picture), the far-right AfD got almost 16 per cent (15.9), which is _huge_ and not negligible as he made it sound. We vote for several parties in Germany (and in most other European states), which means many times our government is made up of coalitions if one party can’t get the majority by itself. The party in Germany with the largest vote share at Sunday’s EU election was the CDU with 30 per cent (Angela Merkels party). So if this was the general election, the CDU would need to find parties that can give them an additional 20 per cent points so they can form a government. So you see, someone getting 16 per cent is really quite significant.

Also, those 16 per cent points were actually the second strongest election result, as our ruling party (SPD, chancellor Scholz’s party) only got 14 per cent of the vote, and the Greens (second ruling party) only got 12!!

[Our current government is a coalition of three parties: Social-democratic SPD, Greens and the German LibDems FDP.]

So you see, 16 per cent is huge!
