My Neurologist diagnosed me with Autoimmune Pernicious Anemia B12 deficiency. I get an injection once a month. I see comments here that some only get a injection every 3 months. If I went that long without an injection, I would end up being hospitalized. You have to ask for the blood test to check for B12 deficency. For some reason, most doctors do not include this with routine blood testing and it should be so.

One more excellent video on this channel. It's worth mentioning that if you are taking B12 supplementation by any form, sublingual, oral or injection, only use methylcobalamin, which is the coenzyme or active form of vitamin B12. Decline any other form of B12.

I have Pernicious Anaemia. It took me years of to-ing and fro-ing to the GP with my symptoms to get a diagnosis. I had pins and needles constantly in my hands and feet. I was exhausted to the point that getting out of bed to go to work was a real challenge. My memory had gone from being amazing to forgetting so many things. The corners of my lips were all cracked and sore and my tongue became so painful I was living on milkshakes and soup. Eating was unbearably painful. I began getting infection after infection. My GP diagnosed me with depression. Then I was told it was all in my head. Next it must be hormonal. It wasn't until I was at the end of my tether when I saw a locum GP at my surgery that anyone considered checking my B12 levels. They were low, surprise! Next came the fight for the correct treatment. My GP stated I only needed the initial loading doses then I'd have another blood test and if that was within normal range I'd not require any further treatment. After the loading doses my B12 levels had risen. Well, obviously! Thankfully I went in armed with the NICE guidelines (im in the UK) which stated the bloods needed to include the Active B12. Also stated that PA requires treatment for life with B12 injections at least every 12 weeks. PA and other B12 deficiencies in general are way more common than we realise and is significantly under diagnosed and it is so simple to test for!

Having low stomach acid cause poor absorption of vitamin b12 so it is important to take a digestive enzyme supplement along with it. Try to eliminate gluten from diet as it stops the body absorbing nutrients from foods.

Too much medication is not good but maintaining good B12 is important as oxygen levels improve. Having Vitamin C rich food also aids B12 absorption.

This is so good. I know my body doesn’t do B12 the way it should. I’ve been taking a methylate B12 supplement but I’m not consistent. I need to get this changed. I’m so exhausted having focus and motivation issues. Thanks for this.

This makes much sense! The amount of suffering I have gone through the last two years has been unbelievable! I went from 198 pounds to currently 86 pounds. My life has been hell at 40 years old. We just discovered my critically low B12 and Vit. D I’ve started weekly B12 shots but my counts are barely coming up. Like my body isn’t holding onto it. My Vit. D levels have gone from 3.4 to 5 being on 50, 000 iuis a week. But this B12 stuff is zero fun. 😢

This information is very accurate. I had a severe B12 deficiency and I had ALL the symptoms. The balance issues were actually scary. I was able to supplement B12 and I got my vitamin D levels normal, (I think these 2 work together) and I was able to get back to normal. The B12 levels should definitely be examined yearly

Anemia is rare in B12 deficiency. Neurological signs and symptoms occur FIRST. These can manifest as pins and needles, numbness, tinnitus, visual obscurations.
