Tons of guitarist will tell you, Gilmour and Brian May are extremely hard to duplicate. Not the most technically advanced licks, but the feel, vibrato, bends and such are what made them so great. You can't teach that, I'm thankful to have shared this Earth with them.

My first guitar teacher would insist I bring in a song (at the time on 45rpm single) each week and he would chart it out for me so I could play along. So he had me playing songs immediately along with learning boring scales, etc. That was brilliant, because without the songs I'm sure I would have lost interest.

Mr. Gilmore Thank you for all you've given to the music world. When I was a mere sprout I attended @6 of your concerts, starting with the Santa Monica Civic in 1970? Now all these 50 years later your advice on the D chord enriches my life again. I'm a 65 year old beginner on guitar with 50 years of classical Indian Music training. It's hard to start over. I'm going to run with this advice. Slowly so I don't break my hip.
