Book reviews are essential to the success of your book. Whether you are getting them on Amazon, Goodreads or some other site where book buyers make decisions, book reviews will support everything you do as an author. Getting more book reviews - especially positive reviews - will tell media, event organizers, and book buyers that you have a message that a lot of people are enjoying.

When I ask for business or content reviews, I am actually thinking another step deeper: "Can you give me a 1-2 sentence review that talks about how cheap/fun/unique/fast/etc. the product/service is?" Now, the reviews are more in line with my marketing goals and characterize my business. Consistent review topics emphasize at least one feature of your work that you can be proud of and infamous for. 1-2 sentences sounds modest and effortless to motivate those you implore, and usually seems about as good as most 5 sentence reviews anyway. Btw, I am always aiming for triple alliteration too.

I'll check out Net Galley. When Goodreads did their giveaways (for free) it was a great way to get reviews because Goodreads would remind them. I wonder why they stopped allowing free giveaways?
