"distros for programming" ? This video should be called "generic comparison of a few distros". Not that it's a bad video, but not a single feature you mentioned has anything to do with being a good or bad distro for programming.

>3rd place
"It can run JetBrains and it can download packages" (literally any distro ever)
>2nd place
ad-populum falacy
"Ubuntu is designed for programmers" uh, no, it's pretty much a user friendly distro
"Has a large repo" then recommend Debian instead
"Due to the large support any problem can be fixed easily" ok, that's your first argument
>1st place
appeal to authority and ad-populum falacy
at this point any of the most popular distros makes this guys list
"it comes with FOSS" literally every linux distro ever

garbage list, lmao

Bruh this video is so redundant. You're just comparing random distros.

If you're using a Laptop, Fedora is BY FAR the best one... The Kernel is so optimised for laptops that GNOME on Fedora gives as much battery life as Powertop+XFCE on Arch Linux. 4-5 hours is a normal for this, that I can watch 2-3 movies in a single stretch.
Plus the fact that you get almost all developer packages in the repo by default if it's free (even Apple Swift also), and persuades you to use Free Software, if you're willing to go for it, or with RPMFusion Repo, anything package you want

All Linux users should realize that distro is not desktop environment. You can use whatever distro you want with whatever desktop environment you want. Distro is about package manager, default repos, init system(well most use systemd so no many variety here) and kernel version they use.

These 3 distros are pretty much the same when it comes to usability and features. I personally use arch (btw) for full stack web development.
Without any doubt I'll say that if you want to be the most productive on your machine, the most important thing is being familiar with your OS. If you have to think how to switch between php versions or set up a new vhost in apache, you are doing something wrong. With arch you are kinda forced being familiar with your OS and you'll never run into an issue that's impossible to troubleshoot or find an answer on arch wiki for.
The ability to customize your workflow is above any of the distros in the video. Oh and AUR featuring almost every package in existence is something you will miss if you ever decide to switch.

Nothing based on Arch? I use Manjaro and I've never been happier with a distro

It's Linux. They're all good for programming, as long as the DE doesn't get in the way of anything (it won't if you use a regularly maintained DE that's familiar). A programming environment comes down to IDE, not the OS (though WIndows programming feels like a game/simulation rather than actual programming).

That said, I use Manjaro i3 because I can setup what feels like my own IDE with Sublime Text and a few terminals. Great for minimalistic programming of obscure tools that I'm probably better off scripting or assigning aliases for, but Atom for large-scale projects and/or using it on KDE.

No arch(manjaro). Its the best for programmers. Its got the best packet manager and almost every package possible

All distro are good, as long you choose DE that suit for you. For me, Manjaro + KDE . That rock solid combination. I would recommend POP OS for new comer. That's Rock Solid too and easier to begin with.

My list. First Debian stable for stability and LTS release. Second ArchLinux for customisation, installing only what use and useful packages with AUR too.

I use Solus 4. Best distro for ME after trying many distros. Give amazing battery life + performance. It uses the optimization from clear linux for intel processors and it also allows to install nvidia proprietary drivers (edit: don't install from doflicky if it doesn't recognise your card). What else do I need. 🤩

EDIT : Please don't think I am saying that other distros are bad. It's just a personal opinion nothing else. I also do have problems with Solus regarding programs and packages but as per performance it great.

Linux is excellent for video-editing. DaVinci Resolve blows away Adobe Premiere and Apple Final Cut Pro. And it is 50% faster on Linux than on PC.

Any distro is good just uninstall/replace anything that requires frequent updates and use a minimal desktop and choose the machine you use carefully.

My first Linux Distro is Manjaro I play but it crashes because I put or download information in Manjaro all software that I wanted and it crashes about 9 times. Now I starting new Linux Distro because Manjaro applications or their programming needed fix then I can’t even logout or restart the the computer. Then I try uses the keyboard to stop it or to get out but the keyboard doesn’t work at all & then I have to shut the Main Computer Switch to off. Then it doesn’t boot the Manjaro program & then I have to go to my bios system to start over to the beginning that it should not be. When the system crashes it should go back to your password Areas but not crashes or destroyed program. It must logout then it should boot the system or shut the system in the program or use the keyboard to Break the program like CTRL C to break & CTRL+ALT+DEL to stop 🛑 it but the system doesn’t work at all. That how I know & do the system. The keyboard ⌨️ must work always but not disconnecting the keyboard it must work always not stopping but working it. To me Please expected to explain why my your system crashes about 9 times when I follow or added more information data or more programs that I wanted it. This is whom ever or anyone else or who made this program. Explain to me. I needed to know about it or fix it.😎🧐👀⌨️👍🏽📝🖥🤔💥🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😎🔐
