Wifi Adapter Antenna 'Upgrade' Worth It?

How does this particular Antenna help me?

2-5 dbi is good for home, 9+ is for long distances to pick up signal. will not improve short distances signal. Many people get confused with this, sadly. Look for pictures on Internet so you understand better what i am saying.

you need to use different antennas for 5GHz and 2.4GHz though

My dear friend, antenna location is very important and you just crammed it behind a computer in every possible orientation. Only small dbi antennas have spherical signal shape and are the only ones where orientation doesn't matter much. Those big antennas give signal in the shape of pancake or plate, expanding from the center of the rod. So it should be held upright and not close to obstacles. Get some 2m of extension cable with connectors.
And one big antenna is enough, leave the other two smaller antennas connected behind as they were.

You're wrong about your basics about Wireless/RF knowledge. The signal doesn't measure in bars. Use a software to know the improvement and check the location of your router.

2:02 Dude what the heck are you doing? Antennas only change the radiation pattern and nothing else! 9dbi and above is only good for routers if you want to focus the signal horizontally. For PCs, just stick with the default or around 3dbi to 5dbi.

Malique Johnson / I gambled on trying a wifi range extender ( $100. ) because my iPad wasn't able to capture a nearby free hotspot... it worked❗The result you got on antenna size CONFIRMS what I suspected... the 2 antennas on my extender are only 5 dbi.... I now have free internet 24 / 7 and captures about 80% of the signal... it might POSSIBLY work for you since the unit can be plugged into any wall location.

You must not have anything in it's way Especially the location you have it .. against the wall and computer as blocking devices ? It has to be above the computer and not have that metal case in the way. I hope this information helps you.

Your antennas should be up and down it affects the signal when there not perpendicular. You also need at least a 1 watt inline amp for each antenna. Also buy an alfa. Great video man i left a thumbs up. By an alfa but be careful there's alot of knock offs😀

You must must must change it on the router 1st..

just had to screw them onto the router, not the pc (because of interference from the electronics inside the pc)
