A Lytton, B.C. woman finally got the news she'd been desperately waiting for after her family was split apart by the wildfire disaster. Norman Drynock, 65, is being hailed a hero after he defied evacuation orders in an effort to protect Indigenous land. As Robin Gill reports, his family is relieved to hear he's safe after no one had heard from him for 24 hours.

More than 150 wildfires are raging across British Columbia, most of which were sparked in recent days, following the province’s record heat wave. As Paul Haysom reports, the fires have more than 1,000 homes under evacuation orders.

In the wake of recent discoveries of more than 1,000 unmarked graves near residential schools, churches across Canada are becoming a target for vandalism and arson attacks. As Heather Yourex-West reports, at least 10 churches in Calgary were vandalized on Canada Day, and emotions are high.

A group of independent scientists in the United Kingdom, called Independent SAGE, says the government's race to lift COVID-19 restrictions is fuelling recent outbreaks. Crystal Goomansingh looks at the link between Euro2020, Wimbledon, and the surge of the Delta variant.

Canada's got basketball talent, but is it enough to send the men's team to the Olympics? As Eric Sorensen explains, the women’s team already has their ticket.

Started off promising peaceful protest, ended up by vandalizing monuments at Manitoba Legislative Building. They didn't keep their promise and damaged public property. They should be arrested.

I heard this summer was gonna for wildfires be bad but so far it's proven to be just terrible. My heart goes out to the man who helplessly watched his parents burn to death 😭

These people have no right to vandalize our churches. Why is everyone sitting quietly, why aren't you doing anything? Damaging our churches means attacking us, attack on our beliefs. Wake up people.

🤣😂🤣😂 Winnipeg police are investigating the toppling. You mean they stood back and did nothing but watch while a crime was committed and then arrested nobody for it. Gee, I wonder why you aren’t respected anymore 🤔

Well if that’s the case why don’t they start destroying money 💰 our queen is on them!!! Complete idiots and disrespectful people! I am deeply saddened about this unacceptable behaviour! End violence! Respect! Honour!

Imagine if you desecrated mosques because of the Armenian genocide. You'd be sent to prison for life

Ok Indigenous protestors let's not go down the route of the BLM movement and fight violence with violence. Let's keep some class and dignity before people start turning their backs.

brave Native warriors are carrying the torch forward with honour and justice for all the innocent people who were never acknowledged and presumed forgotten by the Canadian government the slaughters from Queen Elizabeth's law and order are directly responsible. I two have had a child murdered but not allowed to lay a grave marker of any kind and even a picture of my child was taken and throw in the garbage because I was told Queen Elizabeth owns that parkland and it would dishonor and disgrace her land. I want to thank the native People for giving me some relief from my broken heart I am not well because of my daughter's murder it has been a few years but I scream inside in head every day in pain and no pill or doctor or alcohol will ever make it better. Native people are my heros

Thank goodness about Norman! I saw the daughters segment yesterday and I was worried for her all day. What a relief!

Does anyone know WHEN the last residential school was in operation?, because as far as I know the Canadian government and its people are NOT STILL committing the atrocities that it did back then. Leave it to some people to keep crying about something that NEVER affected them as though it had, and that in some ways WORSE. We should absolutely grieve for those that WERE DIRECTLY affected and we should learn from these crimes but for anyone who thinks that it's ok to commit other crimes because they're upset.

looks like the police in Winnipeg are as brave as the cops in the UK. Let vandals destroy what they want....I'm surprised the cops didn't take a knee.

How many unmarked burial grounds do we have to find, to get one apology from a Pope?
